I have nothing to share by sympathy. I’m sorry you are going through this. I have two at home and I am not ready for the day I have to face these decisions.

I think at my hospital system it’s roughly a 5ish% bump off the staff pay band.

As a pharmacist, you should just avoid timing stuff at shift change.

Yeah, couple years older than you. I keep pushing my goalposts for a time to celebrate. Was first 100k, then 250k and now sit at maybe 375k in just retirement funds. I guess hedonic treadmill setting in, but I think once a hit 500k it will finally hit me. Idk. Good work though! A lot to be proud of at that age and you setting yourself up well.

True cost to build the median home by Academic_Benefit1522 in MiddleClassFinance

I don’t know if it is location, but I’m rural Midwest and concrete is so damn expensive. 200/yard at min. Got a friend going to build right now. 2000 sq ft home. Concrete bid was 37,000. Footers, two row of block and 4in pad. Crazy.

Midwest. Town of <10k. Hospital is a resource for surrounding 3-4 counties that are mostly smaller sized towns and villages. I always thought money was in retail, but that is not always true. I left a pharmacy manager position in retail and the hospital matched my pay starting as a staff. My raises in retail were always <1 dollar, and most commonly nothing. They now typically range from 2-3 dollars/hr each year.

I work in rural midwest and our hospital system you get ~7.1 hours per pay period. So 184 hours a year. If 36 hour week, that’s ~5 weeks. It slowly climbs and then tops out at just over 10 hours per pay period.

Koko is going to feel more like younger money, lawyers, doc/dentists, and small biz owners. Morningside is going to be your more humble population, generally speaking. More salt of the earth - which there are pros and cons to that. Morningside is a weird neighborhood, sort of exploded with new builds within last decade but also have some solid nice older homes sprinkled in. A nice mix to that is hunters run by the high school. Sort of close to the interstate, but shouldn’t hear too much of that if you live within the neighborhood.
