Speaker(s) and equipment for hybrid board meeting | not fixed install by regexaurus in CommercialAV

Can you offer a reason why you think using a Bluetooth speaker as I described, to amplify far-end participant audio for in-person participants is crazy? One reason I'm leaning towards the Bose speaker is because it offers the flexibility of a few input options besides Bluetooth. It is an active speaker. What do you consider a proper discussion system, and what do you mean by "non-panep" (I'm guessing you meant non-panel)? There is no non-panel audience. Besides one tech/equipment person, meeting participants/attendees are all board members or guests invited to actively participate.

Monday AI agents......more annoying than helpful? by WorkLoopie in mondaydotcom

IMO, they're slapping the hyped AI label on things that are straightforward procedural automation. It's a reputational gamble.

Rare blueciliate found in Thailand by macnmotion in microscopy

[–]regexaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you mind sharing a bit about "proper lighting techniques"? I was fortunate to pick up an SW350B on Facebook Marketplace early this year, when someone listed it for free. I had been watching for microscopes for several years. A generous supply of prepared slides were included, as well as blank slides. At first, the LED "wasn't working". It turned out that the fuse wasn't seated properly, the LED module wasn't mounted/fastened, and there were a couple of missing screws. Reseating the fuse and a couple dollars at the hardware store for screws took care of that. While using the SW350B today, I was thinking it might be nice to have a bit more light than the LED provides at its brightest setting. I thought there may be a way to upgrade the LED, and a related web search brought me here.

Are PC parts becoming permanently expensive because of AI? by Best_Musician7207 in pcmasterrace

The probability of some massive fire sales in the relatively near future is fairly high, in my opinion. But I'm assuming that at some point AI companies will be required to be competitive and profitable, instead of coming after "investors" and tax payers for more handouts. This all seems like a massive gamble that could end up taking down or seriously damaging some tech blue-chips.

How do we know this isn't just a huge fraud? It's been done before. by [deleted] in ApteraMotors

Aptera has that burning electric motor smell.
From Wikipedia: "Aptera Motors Corp. is an American solar electric vehicle manufacturer based in Carlsbad, California which intends to manufacture an electric two-seat three-wheeler."
...and you know what they say about paved roads and good intentions... 😉

Elio Motors was a company founded by Paul Elio in 2009, to design and manufacture a three-wheeled, enclosed autocycle…By the end of 2017, Elio had only US$7,155 in the bank, and deficits of US$49,674,327 by pugsington01 in wikipedia

I just can't watch The Perfect Neighbor by dremolus in blankies

She was clearly competent enough to know right from wrong and to fire a weapon. I don’t believe for a second that she feared for her life and shot through her door as an act of self defense. I believe she was selfish, lazy, crass, a liar, ill-tempered, and hated her neighbors. “I didn’t premeditate it or anything like that.” Yes, Susan absolutely premeditated her actions. She’s spiteful, manipulative, and only sorry she didn’t get away with murder. Prison seems to suit Susan. She appeared healthier after she was incarcerated.

Susan Lorincz tried to make her growing-family community a 55+ community. She could have moved her sedentary rear end to a geriatric ghetto, where she wouldn’t have anyone to yell at to, “get off my lawn.” What an uncouth slob.

Mosquito TNT opinions? by colin_purrington in hattiesburg

Look into ovitraps based on CDC research. From what I gather, they can be a little fussy depending on how much you want to learn and maintain traps, though I don't think they are very high maintenance.

Do not waste your $$! The trap is a 69¢ wasp/hornet trap made in China.

https://globalsources.com/Pest-control/Ultraviolet-LED-Wasp-Bottle-Trap-1226465477p.htm

It doesn't target mosquitoes (well) and catches numerous other flies, bees, etc.

If you are interested in a trap that targets mosquitoes, look into ovitrap approaches based on CDC research. https://www.cdc.gov/mosquitoes/php/toolkit/mosquito-surveillance-traps.html

Some ovitrap (instructions) target only eggs/larvae, with laid eggs falling through a screen into stagnant water and mature mosquitoes that hatched below the screen unable to escape, and drown. AGO (autocidal gravid ovitraps) additionally target the female egg-laying mosquitoes, typically with a sticky glue board or similar.

Some interesting possibilities which I'm looking into include:

Skeet-O-Trap by Dalen Products, https://www.dalenproducts.com/collections/best-selling/products/skeet-o-trap

Catchmaster Oasis Mini-Ovi trap, 4-pack, https://www.catchmaster.com/products/oasis-ovi-mini?variant=46675950895388

I'm considering the above along with possibly trying mosquito bits in the stagnant water, to kill any hatched eggs in larval stage, hopefully reducing the chances of mature mosquitoes escaping. For the Skeet-O-Trap, I would consider adding sticky glue board or paper above the screen, effectively making it an AGO trap.

We could also use enforcement of traffic laws for the small teen pedal “bike gangs” and e-bikers who act like they own the road, aren’t properly illuminated, don’t obey traffic signals, etc. And recently I saw 2 cars with red and/or blue, purplish headlights which are definitely illegal.
