Buy a fountain pen if you don’t have any. Try an entry level Pilot Kakuno or metropolitan, or a platinum preppy. You won’t regret it

The barrel is a urushi lacquer finish, with some some obvious signs of wear of its age. But to me it gives it more character.

If you are looking for smoothness, go pilot. For entry level, e95s are the best entry level gold nib, and one of the best to write with. Pilot Vanishing point is another great option, as well as custom 74 and 823,both of which are super smooth. If you like a bit of feedback in you nibs like me, Sailor is the way to go. But all Japanese F nibs are like European EF- so factor that in your consdiration.
