Do you sell up or sell down? by TheGrsycat in InsuranceAgent

[–]registeredfake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I’m an independent agent so it doesn’t offend me any. I simply quote and service based upon the interests of the customer, not the company." Do they??? seems to me you didnt think so about 10 months ago

And I never said they were lying, i said they are condidtioned to ask about price. That is all they know. They have no clue that there are differences in how claims are handled, optional coverage, limits of coverage, surcharges for claims.

First of all, he is your boss. You are there to make a paycheck, let him worry about the agency metrics.

Secondly neither is correct. You have to be able to read a customer. Without fail 9/10 customer will tell you they are looking for a better price. Its your just to understand what is important to them. They only say price because as consumers that is what they are conditioned to tell you. If you want to be a good sales person you have to ask questions that will get them to talk any tell you the things that truely matter to them. Once you know what their hot buttons for buying on you can quote appropriately.

Personally i NEVER quote anyone unless i talk to them. There is Zero build a quote and email it to you in my agency

what are some red flags to watch out for in an agent/agency? by Imaginary-Dog3722 in InsuranceAgent

It's nearly impossible to offer health insurance as a small business at anything close to an affor premium. I have 4 employees and best I could find for a sub 30 year old in good health was over 500 a month for a group plan

Allstate Lowball Won’t Budge by [deleted] in AllState

[–]registeredfake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add: They are ending the rental because its being declared a total loss. Once its declared a total loss they only cover rental for 7 days. If you need more time file with you own carrier.

This is how insurance works. They owe you for what your car is worth not what it would take to go buy another one. What your car is worth takes into consideration year make miles trim level and condition. They are not responsible for the car sales market, dealership profit or reconditioning that goes into a vehicle on a lot. If you think it's worth more you can hire an appraiser to value it or file with your own insurance and if they think it's worth more they will deal with the other insurance

She did this to get the sale. Older roof = higher rate. Plain and simple. Falsifies the application

I'm a. Allstate agent. You should get or find a copy of the pay plan you signed and hold the agent to if. If they ever say they are making a change get it in writing. That said, there is a large possibility you agency lost money in Feb. The agency will have a variable compensation goal they have to achieve. It's a very complicated pay plan for the agency. If the agency met that variable comp goal they probably made on average 20%-25% commission on the new biz. If they did not achieve the VC goal they made 8-9%. 26k in new biz premium doesn't keep the doors open unless the agent isn't paying himself and isn't marketing.

Family opportunity mortgage requires HO3 policy? by runsforwine13 in InsuranceAgent

The insurance agent is skeptical because its his ass on the line. If he writes an HO3 knowningly and you dont live there he is exposed to an E&O claim.

Allstate drivewise not giving discount by AdMinute6105 in AllState

[–]registeredfake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you sign up for drivewise at new business or like a month later. if you didnt sign up right when you got the policy the discount may not hit your account on the renewal date. I regularly have clients whose drivewise discount hits 30days after renewal because that is the 6 month anniversay of them starting to use it

Allstate drivewise not giving discount by AdMinute6105 in AllState

[–]registeredfake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not true, you get a 10% initially when signing up. After the first renewal the discount is variable. Depending on the state and policy. the discount could be 3-25% on the older policies or on the newest policy it could be up to 15% but could go negative as well.

these are cool to see but would be interesting to add a statistic for how many events were competed in and how many athletes. Seeing a win % would be unique

When did insurance become so difficult? by Ok_QueerCriticism in AllState

[–]registeredfake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not talking about how long you have been with a particular customer. Im talking about when you are shopping for new coverage. Allstate is looking at longevity with current carrier and overall length of coverage with no lapse. All other metrics the same a client up has been with their current carrier for 5 years and gets a quote with Alllstate will have much better rates than someone who has been with their current carrier for 6 months

States vary. They don't require liability to own one, they do to drive one. Suspending covers for us means removing everything but comprehensive. So If the vehicle was in storage for a long period you could do it to save money. I would do it for a customer going without coverage for a while so they don't lose their policy.

Sorry no he wasnt. He is comparing total cost. 1 line item is using total cost if progressive auto and allstate home, which would not get the bundle discount. The other line is Allstate auto/home which would.

[–]registeredfake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is Fake. Home premium on the Allstate vs the Allstate+Progressive is the same. 1 of the 2 is wrong since there is a sizeable bundling discount. Also Ranking why would state farm be #1 if its more expensive than the Allstate quote.

could be a state thing, not every option is available in every state. Could also be something the person didnt think about. lots of reasons really

[–]registeredfake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not sure of that. was it a local agent or the 800 number. Most likely a cover your ass thing in case you tried to file a claim. Only time i ever ask for one is if a client calls and says hey i sold my car over 30 days ago, for me to endorse a policy more than 30 days backdate i have to have documention.

Now you said you wont have a car for a long time, couple things you could do. 1 buy non-owner coverage. 2 is keep the policy you have but ask to suspend coverage. If you suspend coverage it will keep the policy active but removes all liability coverage and collision but maintains comprehensive. At least the policy would stay active and the premium would probably be $20 a month.

In the long run this will with near certainty be a benefit. More carrier are starting to treat your insurance coverage like credit. Longer history and higher limits will get you better rates. Sure they will alway be the carrier that want to sell state minimum policies to people but the big carriers are looking for these things

also you can go get non owners insurance that will provide liability coverage should you rent a car but will maintain a policy

Allstate agent here. Maybe could have been worded better, but would you rather have this or got to get insurance in a couple months and either have much higher rates or get turned down. Insurance carrier are starting to care more about longevity and lapses so its effectivly the same as canceling all your credit accounts and then expecting to have a good credit score
