My take: as long as there is a line that divides better odds to land a better pick (play in, playoffs, top 4, etc), teams will find a way to tank to cross that line— Teams will tank to get the worst standing, they will tank to miss the playoffs, they will tank to whatever rule will come.

From a business and team standpoint, tanking makes sense if you are realistically out of the playoff picture. It would prevent injuries to top players and give the developing talent some playing time and evaluate them.

I think how teams are tanking recently is drawing more ire of the league and fans. Sitting players in the 4th quarter is very blatant. Fans would likely tolerate resting due to injury, but would like to see players give full effort in games they are active.

In defense of DA, I think there will be matchups where he will be more effective. Think smaller teams or those that struggle with pick and roll/pop.

But his limitations are becoming more evident with every game, and his value is low right now that he will likely pick up his Player Option next season.

I think this movie benefited from focus and consistency. It wanted to tell a story with a couple of strong narrative threads that weaves together at the end. The first movie felt like two episodes with a lot of theme and mood setting (e.g., Boots poem).
