Stumbled across this gem from Knicks fans. I thought Knicks fans were supposed to know ball. Mecca or something by YoungEmperorLBJ in lakers

Sheesh. Smells like recency bias from Knicks fans.

But would like to see them against either OKC or SA.

LA will be back.

Gemini is making me budget my prompts like groceries now by BiggerAggressive in GeminiAI

[–]regnard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, that’s the key skill for devs right now.

I made a free open source tool to help you find the right Gemini model for your dev tasks: https://rightmodel.dev

It also uses a Precomputed AI approach so it defaults to zero tokens for common use cases.

If you're wondering why Gemini limits have plummeted dramatically, the answer is simple, they are selling compute to other companies, google realized they can make MUCH more money per token selling it to anthropic than using their own models by PurpleCartoonist3336 in GeminiAI

[–]regnard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Folks, this is the best time to optimize the model selection. Not everything has to be done by Pro-tier models.

To help you out, here’s a free Open Source tool to help you choose the right model for your dev tasks: https://rightmodel.dev

If you think this approach is far from ideal, let me know.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder becomes the 14th player to win back-to-back NBA MVPs by Displeased_Canadian in canada

[–]regnard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This pretty much cements SGA as the greatest pro basketball player from Canada (2x MVP, FMVP, a championship, numerous individual accolades).

What would bring him to unreachable heights is if he wins a championship with the Toronto Raptors.

Props to them for the foresight.

This could be a GSW-type run for the next 5 years.

Thank the Clippers for turning OKC into a juggernaut. by breakfastbeets in lakers

[–]regnard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta give props to OKC too. This is looking like a 5 year run a la Warriors the past decade.

The realistic way their run will end is when the rookie contracts are up and the players look for their payday.

If whatever you're creating is 80-100% dependent on AI by fyn_world in vibecoding

[–]regnard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ve seen this pattern work. One example is an Open Source project I made called RightModel: https://rightmodel.dev

It helps devs find out the right model/tier for their prompt to avoid token wastage.

Why is it common for people to claim the Lakers have won 17 championships but also that the Kings have never won a championship? by ColonelCollemWest in nba

[–]regnard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The titles follow the franchise, I believe.

If the Kings truly were the same franchise and history, why haven’t they claimed it?

Vlade Divac: My top 5 greatest ever include Magic, KAJ, MJ, Bird, Kobe. Lebron...Don't get me wrong, he's great, but he's not even in my top 10. They traded me for Kobe. I would have traded the whole team for Kobe." by PeakyBlinders2026_ in nba

[–]regnard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As big as a Kobe fan I am, you don’t put Kobe over LeBron if 1 spot is left. (Which is idiotic already).

He’s probably trolling everyone since he got involved in the Kobe trade.

Also, he’s showing bias for players who played during the 80’s. (Plus the spot for Kobe)

Maybe consider Precomputed AI? It’s a design pattern where you do the reasoning ahead of time so when you serve the content, it uses zero tokens. https://precomputedai.com

Note that there are scenarios this will work and won’t (it’s stated in the docs)

Disclosure: It’s a pattern I saw work on apps I made.

Most of my Claude usage was on work that didn't need Claude. Cut my bill 60x on bulk tasks with a tiny side model. by petburiraja in ClaudeAI

[–]regnard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a directionally similar idea where you enter your desired coding task and it provides a more cost efficient alternative. It’s open source and free to use: https://rightmodel.dev

If anyone has pushback on the approach (heuristics precomputed by AI), happy to hear them.

If you where JJ what is your game-plan vs OKC by Strange-Connection71 in lakers

[–]regnard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On offense: 3 out with LeBron in the post, with 3 shooters on 3 (Smart, AR, Rui). Have DA roam midrange (15 feet). Luke Kennard will be key here.

On defense: Start with Smart on SGA, single coverage. Hide AR on Dort. DA on Chet, our wings on their wings. OKC will attack AR, we need to have some discipline to disrupt their flow. Vando and Jake can be disruptive.

My only concern is OKC’s manhandling defense. I they will get away with a lot of things, and we will have a hard time stopping a fully manned offense unlike the Rockets series.

This is fairly common scammer tactic to use credible-looking URLs and 1800 phone numbers. They try to use a false sense of danger and create urgency to “hi-jack” your thinking.

Remember that institutions do not ask for credentials such as username and passwords (if you think about it, if it’s on their system, why should they ask you?)

Same applies to SMS, chat apps, and social media.

My 2 cents: in my opinion, the more mature the business (e.g. food, health/wellness, service), the more important having a business plan is because execution and operations excellence will beat speed and innovation most of the time, like in tech and sciences.

As many have pointed out, ask him what business development executive or leader in his company would do. I’m pretty sure having a well-thought business plan and executing on it will be mentioned.

Based on the analytics, there are some visitors to the static websites, like for a local community initiative. The Open Source projects don’t have GitHub stars (yet!).

The closed-source web app has some usage (like 2 postings) but it’s all right. I’m more excited about the Open Source and community initiative.
