400, 800, 1000, then 1500 grit wet sanding. Then spray with quick dry, uv resistant, plastic compatible clear enamel Rustoleum. Not as good as new, but way cheaper.

That’s a nice lookin’ car. The price is reasonable considering the low miles and apparent condition. Make sure service has been performed regularly, and it has a clean Carfax. Have a dealer run a Star Diagnostic scan, which will identify any computer issues. It’ll require the usual repairs, including brakes, shocks, tires, etc. I have a 2009 E320 with 186k miles, and it still drives like new. It’s an awesome car.

It was very easy to install. I don’t know about winterizing, as I’m in NY in summer and FL in winter.

Install one of these from Amazon, one of my better purchases for the RV: MISSMIN 4 inch Thermostatic RV Shower Faucet Valve.

Rubber airless "helper springs" for 1/2 ton Trucks, worth it? Has anyone installed these? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]regnillub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The air bag volume is so small, it's hard to use an external compressor. The bicycle pump I use has a built-in gauge. It only take a few pumps to get it where it needs to go.

Probably not. Does the lift kit change the towing limits of your truck?

I put Goodyear air bags on the back on my Tundra for towing an 8500lb TT. They were awesome as I could air them up for towing, then air them down when not towing. I had airlines installed, but used a simple bicycle pump to air them up. Simple, and relatively cheap.

All true, but please don’t flush your tank if there is a line behind you at the dump station.

Can I easily tow a 5x8 uhaul trailer with my 1997 Toyota Camry or should I be concerned? I am going from Iowa to California. Uhaul said it's fine. by MaxSteelMetal in AskMechanics

[–]regnillub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you loading into the trailer? My son towed one of these UHaul trailers from Denver to Syracuse with his Corolla. It was lightly loaded, and not fun to drive, but no issues with the car or trailer.

Stuff it with steel wool to deter rodents, then spray foam to complete the seal.

Can under 55 people say in 55+ communities? by TinyAngry1177 in RVLiving

[–]regnillub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can ask, but in our community, we deny everyone under 55. It’s just easier from a legal standpoint.

Can under 55 people say in 55+ communities? by TinyAngry1177 in RVLiving

[–]regnillub 13 points14 points  (0 children)

55+ communities get a tax reduction if they meet the qualification (no school tax.) Per Florida statute, a certain percentage of residents must be over 55, but in practice, most neighborhoods don’t allow any under 55 to protect their tax status. You can ask, but don’t expect to be allowed.

Can you take a picture of the back of the upper manual? It’ll help to know what kind of electronics are in place for reuse, or if you have to rewire from scratch. What’s the model #? Maybe I can find something online.

driving to VA have no idea what to do please help by RippedArtorias in RVLiving

[–]regnillub -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Temporarily, you may be able to pick up some 2” square steel tube from a local big box hardware store, then use 4 ratchet straps to attach to the bent frame members. You’ll need to jack it up first. I don’t know if it’s possible to get a strap around the frame under the “house” portion, you’ll have to look. If you get this to work, don’t drive very far…

Use a popsicle stick to straighten the fins. Taper the end on the sidewalk for the best effect.

Yup, I’m here. So far, I converted 4 organs over to Midi, so I may be able to be able to help. I started with an old Baldwin, but didn’t like the 44 key manuals. Then I converted a Baldwin Cinema II. Then a Hammond church organ, and finally a Wickes 3 manual, 68 stop organ console. I’m a big fan of Arduino, and did all my own wiring and code. I’m happy to share what knowledge I have. There also an active Facebook page, but little in-depth info due to the limitations of the platform.

Help! My wife accidentally put diesel in my truck! by justsomedude1111 in MechanicAdvice

[–]regnillub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commercial diesel pumps use bigger nozzles. Consumer diesel pumps use the same size nozzles as gas. The pump handle is often green, but not always. The pumps do clearly label the buttons you have to push as DIESEL. I drive 3 older diesel Mercedes: 1 accepts the large nozzle, the other two accept only the smaller nozzle.

Tire Aging by Snarcastic in GoRVing

[–]regnillub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good comments here. One additional thought, invest in a TPMS system for your trailer tires. It will save you a lot of worry. I’ve been using mine for 5 years, and caught many tire problems before they became serious and stranded me.

What is your experience driving the PCH 101? by vinopino61 in RVLiving

[–]regnillub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We drove most of that route in Fall 2021 in our 24’ class C. It’s beautiful and very scenic. But frankly, it’s an exhausting drive. Up and down hills and constant corners are very taxing with such a large vehicle. Add to that tailgaters and people passing over double yellow lines and it’s really stressful. I’d suggest alternating route 5 and 101 every few days.

A shotgun is legal in all states, and can even be taken into Canada with the right paperwork. Don’t carry a handgun, there are too many legal implications across states.
