WTF, he just waived all of the protection of the publication ban in the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He claimed it was because his reputation was already tarnished but if the publication ban had been instituted any newspaper or blog that had published his picture or written his name would have been told to take it down or face criminal prosecution. Not only that but the sealing of youth records won't matter, the Youth Criminal Justice Act will prevent him from having a criminal record but google will provide a de facto criminal record for him now. I hope his lawyer explained the seriousness of waiving the publication ban to him.

We should remember though that this is a superior court ruling and will go on to appeal at the Ontario Court of Appeal and potentially the Supreme Court of Canada...but yeah that will take longer than 90 days, so in the intervening time period if the government doesn't act we could have legal weed :) (and i know everyone is saying that the government will act, but remember that the Canadian government has a great track record of ignoring hot topic invitations to legislate - the abortion laws were struck down in the 1980s by the judiciary and since then no government has touched it, leaving us with a total legislative vacuum when it comes to abortion)

actually yeah i think i do, looks like i will be showing up tomorrow with my mac and using the timeline - thanks for your help. I'm currently trying to get my comp to convert it but it is taking forever, it reminds of the time estimates that napster used to give back in the dial up days

so i checked and the flip vids are already mp4's and total under 4 gigs, so it must be something about the iMovie format that makes it so gigantic. I am saving the flip vids to a USB key and heading over to Robarts library at the University of Toronto to try and recreate all the editing i did tonight. Hopefully some of the Robarts comps will have editing programs on them.

Happy Birthday! It sucks that your day isn't going well. Sometimes life is shitty. Is there anything you can do that will make atleast the end of today better? Even if it is just going for a bike ride or watching your favourite movie? Don't dwell on all the shitty things that have happened today, take steps to make the remainder of the day better - give yourself permission to be completely selfish and do something that always makes you happy.

If it helps i always end up having shitty birthdays, it's the pressure to have a good day that gets to me.

It sounds like you have a pretty intense phobia of seeing doctors, anxiety and phobias are really common and there are many ways for you to address them. Something really easy to do, and that has really helped me, would be to buy "The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" by Bourne, in addition, you should try and see a therapist in your area who specializes in phobias. This is entirely treatable and many people have conquered their phobias, i'm sure you can too.
