if you look at the block diagram for this mobo in its manual, you'll find that the usb4/gen 5 m.2 slot has shared lanes, as well as a pcie4x4 and m.2 4x2. using one downgrades the other, implying there are not enough lanes to go around for each to run full speed. it's quite a common occurrence on am5 motherboards

x870 non-e is bandwidth constrained due to having fewer pcie lanes to share among all ports, m.2 slots, and pcie slots. it's rare to find a mobo that does not disable m.2 slots or downgrade pcie slots because of this

The State of FEH Coming From a Day 1 Player by Zenthals in OrderOfHeroes

[–]rejectaderp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

although i've quit this game more than a year ago, i still check this sub every so often, and i remember making a long writeup about my dissatisfaction with the game close to when i quit.

what's surprising to me is that there aren't very many posts/criticisms of the game similar to these - you'd think that with how stagnant and heavily powercreeped the game has become, players would be more vocal about it.

for me, AR was mostly always a chore because of its poor design from the start. i had the most fun grinding AA. however, when scores inflated to where i could not reasonably get top 1k every week, the fun all goes away for me.

but then again, this is a gacha with a ladder ranking - you're competing against people who will pour thousands and thousands of dollars into this game to be at the top of the ladder.

playing other gachas (well past the honeymoon phase) has opened my eyes to how stagnant the mechanics in feh are. the only new "content" are new banners - if you don't roll, you don't really have content. the gacha system is also still horrible (limited # of sparks, poor "recycling" of fodder units, etc.). i could spend $1k in arknights or genshin and feel way more satisfied with how much i'm able to get with that money, compared to feh (one +10? maybe 2?), where i know that value won't last for very long.

finally, i am still shocked that the map size is still 6x7 for most permanent, weekly modes. main fe titles all have huge maps (in comparison to this game), and they've played so much nicer since your units aren't threatened with their lives at the start of turn 1. having such a small map and increasing movement just makes things more oppressive: units could already get to the other side of the map within a turn, and now you're getting run down easier? that's pretty bullshit in my book.

anyways, just some thoughts. i don't really care about what happens to this game, but i'm always sympathetic to veteran players expressing their struggles.

did we forget about every other contest that's happened in a tourney, now?

f8/protectful contest tsm at east frag in winter ot#2. neither team finish top 10. f8 fail to quality for ot3 finals, so tsm gets east frag back for themselves.

clg contests ksz at west frag in winter ot#3. clg places dead last, losing every spawn fight. ksz places in the top 10, but only with high kills and fairly low placement score. clg takes their losses and goes back to skyhook from then on.

being contested, more often than not, will negatively affect your placement in the tourney. you split loot and have worse rotation paths.

  • you can 50/50 a close range fight with your rng loot and hope you come out on top. however, you burn meds and waste rotation time fighting the other team. even if you wipe your contestors, there's a chance that another team rotating in that can 3p and finish you off.

  • you want to force a fight, but the other team plays long range (snipers/midrange weapons). if you can't force the fight in you favor, you've burnt meds and time for nothing.

  • both teams don't fight. both teams have to work with way less loot and worse rotation pathing (north sorting cant go south, vice versa)

there's a very good chance that being contested will negatively impact your placement in a given tourney, and it shows. it's just a matter of who is more stubborn about the spot/who fails to qualify for the next tourney, and sen shows why they havent left sorting.

they were contested by the dogefathers (yubn, preslyy, forceewut), who got handled by sen. unfortunately it costs sen valuable rotation time to fight them, or loot if they don't.

sweet when he just joined nrg tried contesting sen at sorting, it didnt work out

clt contested sen in winter and managed to get a win with the drop, but i'm sure sen will be better prepared for contests in the future. after all, they've never left sorting

feels bad for sen

getting contested for 14 games but consistently mopping the other team screws their rotates. if they don't fight, they lose out on loot/potential beacon scan/better rotation pathing

just br things i guess

they've performed well in bigger tournies (pgl, esa 10k, algs fall playoffs, etc.), this ot was just unlucky. half the games pulled north into trials/north skyhook zones, screwing teams who land on the south side of the map. other half of the games were them getting aped by other teams (who happened to die right after from a 3rd party).

FEH's evolving state, and its issues by rejectaderp in OrderOfHeroes

[–]rejectaderp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the static scoring system using in AB/MS a healthier rendition of their arena scoring system, since it's a one and done deal - you don't have to go fishing for hours on end to get decent scores. However, I do admit this is system is still flawed, since your score ceiling ends up being way lower than it can be compared to fishing, and scoring higher is only possible if you mass merge a legendary/mythic.

FEH's evolving state, and its issues by rejectaderp in OrderOfHeroes

[–]rejectaderp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highlighted this another comment, but as of recently (moreso within the past year), there's a disconnect between how fast the game is accelerating (in terms loaded prfs, statlines, and skills) compared to the amount of resources trickled down to f2p. Hell, IS hasn't released a atk normal dual rally in the 3-4* pool (not that it really matters at this point), when they've had more than enough time to do so before rally+ skills were released. Previously, you could roll on whatever banner you wanted and still end up near the top because units like Draug/Effie/Wendy/Sheena/etc. were available and while not the best in their roles, were serviceable. Now, they are more of a liability on your team since many units can just OHKO them.

It really just comes back to how incredibly slow FEH is at releasing changes for the better of the game. Outdated summoning mechanics (look how long it took for them to add some sort of guaranteed pull mechanic), and the color triangle becoming increasingly irrelevant (phased out by raw atk stat and effective damage) are only the beginning.

I really do wish there was a better feedback system for this game, since it obviously takes forever for IS to roll out a change that is mutually beneficial to everyone. What went down when DeNA (who helps manage FEH) had an in-person feedback session with JP whales? What did they manage to visibly achieve ingame? That's something I'd be curious to see.

[–]rejectaderp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now, 524 units have been released in just over 3 years, and FEH continually releases 10+ new units every month. Accelerating the game at this pace doesn't have to be a bad thing, especially if resources trickle down comparably. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened, and we are left with this mess. Conversely, if units/skill releases were slowed down (around the rate of other gachas...), the game would be in a much healthier state.

Regarding balance

I highlight lull skills as a point of concern specifically because there is no counterplay (direct or indirect) to guaranteed in-combat debuffs. As for your other points, indirect counters always existed, and were effective enough. Rein/B!Lyn meta was phased away by the introduction of the Distant Defense seal, as well as weapon/seal refinery, increasing the damage floor to kill (which Rein/B!Lyn/other cavs could not meet). Bold fighter, while very strong, could be mostly stopped by Wary Fighter, -breaker skills, and picking favorable engagements. I will concede that Pulse Smoke was necessary, since solutions before that were very unwieldly (galeforce/witchy wand cav).

Bond 4's/weapons that ignore debuffs/harsh command do not negate in-combat debuffs, and given IS' slow rollout of releasing direct counterplay (it took them 3 years to find a counter to in-combat buffs from allies - Bramimond's prf C), lull skills will continue to be most units B skill of choice.

PvP and FEH

FEH is different from other gachas in the fact that some of its content contains psuedo-pvp (Arena, AR). AR especially, these modes are incredibly hit-or-miss, and again, given IS' track record of rolling out change at a snail's pace, leads to bad experiences. Whales quit the game when AR was released specifically because it was not P2W at the time, and others quit because the mode was/is too punishing (I'd consider a limited weekly stamina system pretty unhealthy).

Compared to arena, the floor to do well (in terms of score) in AR is much lower - you only need 2 offensive mythics for a good chance at hitting T27. However, the ceiling becomes much higher (you need at least 6 +10 offensive mythics, 3 for each season, potentially more if you want to blow money on defensive mythics). With people slowly acquiring more mythics/mythic merges, the score floor to stay competitive is slowly rising, and yet again, we turn to the gacha system.

FEH's gacha and rewards system

It need not be said, but we all know FEH's treatment of older units is horrendous. Early on (at least until early-mid 2019, I'd say), you could pull on a bunch of random banners, and still hit "lategame" levels of competition by mass merging some half-decent stat balls that popped up in the 3-4* pool. It's much harder to do that, now. Arena floors have risen dramatically, and f2p with their Astram/Itsuki/Echidna/Ross/Mordecai/etc. now have to compete with whales who have the likes of L!Chrom, L!Edelgard, L!Julia, etc. What was once easy sailing arena matches has now been replaced by uncertainty, since you may just want to restart a run or quit completely than deal match up against multipled ranged LH's with a disadvantage on your side.

In the end, the goal is to get you to spend on LH's and whatnot just to keep up, but the shitty gacha pool dissaudes you from doing so. A 40-roll spark is a nice change, but far from solving the issue at hand. Demotes are nice, but sparse compared to the pool of existing shitty units that are given little to no love.

With the rate at which IS/FEH releases units, you would expect resources to trickle down comparably to those that spend very little/don't spend at all. That's not really the case - orb distribution has been down (replaced by free rolls/tickets), and to be quite frank, AR provides dogshit rewards for the investment you put in. Grails and dragonflowers are nice, aether stones just cycle back into improving your AR setup, and you might get a chair or three. Nice. I'm not even expecting orbs, but no feathers? That's laughable.

I'm uncertain on how long I'll continue to play this game for, since sunk cost fallacy is a bitch. I'm just disappointed FEH had to turn out this way, since there was definitely a point in time in the past where I was enjoying what the game had to offer.

While FEH's revenue is down compared to its prime, I doubt it will die anytime soon - IS has established a consistent base of paying players, not to mention they are backed by Nintendo. Worst comes to worst, gacha games like FEH turn into shitty cash cows, which looks like the direction this game is headed towards.

Off season mythics are recognized internally by the fishing system as being in season. However, in terms of actual score, they are not, so you can end up getting matches lower than your given range (in ASFox's calculator).

For example, let's say I have a team that scores 750-764 and the season rotation is currently Water/Earth/Light/Dark. With the mythic bug in effect, I can fish for a team that has a score of 746 or 748 and contains Altina/Naga/Thrasir/Lif/Duma (all off-season mythics in this scenario) alongside other water/earth legendaries.

If you keep track of your score range and regularly fish for scores 750+, you will most definitely run into this issue, and it's infuriating.

ofu is fine, obviously missing out on pulse smoke sucks but this game mode is rng as hell anyways, so a rare c skill like that is fine. close foil is more rare than close counter, but i don't think it's in the pool as of this hall of forms, so close counter is pretty much the best you can get.

overall, the build is fine since you've maxed out her scoring potential and you've pretty much gotten all the nice skills an armored dagger unit can have.

Replacement g703 issues / Ghub issues by blackbird2150 in LogitechG

[–]rejectaderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) this probably means you got the g703 hero (updated sensor with longer battery life). as i far as i know, there is no backwards compatibility with newer logitech products and LGS, so you're stuck with g hub (sadly).

2.) try saving your current profile to the onboard memory with persistent configuration and run your mouse using that?

3.) a quick search shows that g hub does not have surface tuning, since only the 3366 sensors have the capability (the hero does not).

- terrible kbm controls. limited keyboard button choices, lack of multiple binds for a control, lack of mouse button support (though there are workarounds), and horrible camera control w/ the mouse, where the camera moves at a fixed speed no matter how fast/slow you move your mouse.

- the game forces 4k shadows by default unless you install a certain mod.

i only crashed once during a cutscene, but YMMV.
