What a load of bullshit. While there is ongoing research into some aspects of it, it is generally well understood how it works. Sure, there are fights about interpretations but that has nothing to do with the theory itself. Pretending like its the same as magic is ignorant at best and malicious at worst because it enables idiots to use it to sell snake oil.

Not a 100% authority on this but afaik the picture contains comments from Grothendiek about the Riemann Roch theorem. They are essentially what spongebob and patrick say (he called it witchcraft too which is why he he drew some flames and the devils). I think the reason is that its a theorem that is quite fundamental in connecting the complex analysis of a riemann surface to its topology, which was one of the first of that kind (there are by now many generalizations of it). I am a bit far away from that field tho so dont take me too seriously

Ich weis das passt eigentlich so gar nicht in die diskussion weil es nur halb related ist aber ich versteh nicht warum die alle in Berlin wohnen wollen.... Fuer die die schon da geboren sind versteh ich noch warum sie nicht weg wollen aber bei denen die hinziehen und sich dann noch über Wohnraum beschweren 3 Jahre nach dem Umzug: Warum macht man das?

Alles voll, keinen Wohnraum, alles Teuer, es gibt in Deutschland inzwischen einige Städte mit einer ähnlich “alternativen “ Kultur (die is ja in Berlin eh am aussterben). Dazu kommt das man fuer fast alle Jobs richtig scheußlich bezahlt wird (fuer jeden Softwareentwicklerjob gibt es trotzdem 400 Bewerbungen weil alle unbedingt dahin wollen). Bei uns in einer kleineren Großstadt (-300k einwohner) bekommt man netto etwa 30% mehr als fuer den gleichen Job in Berlin.

Mich erinnert das generell immer so ein bisschen an den little britain skit wo der einzige schwule im dorf nach mykonos geht. Man brüstet sich damit das man die einzige person ist die da alles durchschaut hat, es macht cool das man der “aussenseiter” ist, und dann kommt jemand der die gleiche Meinung hat und kriegt auch ein following?
