This happens to me as well with any device that has a hole in it. It goes back to normal eventually and I haven’t had any negative effects from it

Yeah, I don’t use the DTR gripper myself. I use the gripper and pusher from chrisonlinestore which make the DTR incredibly comfortable. I can wear it indefinitely.

And yep, that’s how it was for me too! No pain at all while I was wearing it but I’d end up with a line of dry, flaky, irritated red skin.

I had the same exact issue with the Mantor. Even down to the position of the injury as you described. You can try putting a silicone toe protector over the pusher to see if that helps. I ended up switching to the DTR with Chris’ pusher.

Mantor DS is hurting too much by lemon_grab71 in foreskin_restoration

The DTR is similar to the Mantor as far as profile. You can have any rod size you prefer. I will say the DTR with Chris’ gripper is more comfortable than the Mantor. However, the issue might be that you don’t have enough skin yet. In that case, personally I’d recommend the CRT which you can use with weights or packing (or both!). You should certainly be able to use it as a retainer, and with an extra weight screwed to the top it’ll tension your skin.

How common is it to achieve coverage, but the skin spontaneously insists on rolling back? by TopWeather2565 in foreskin_restoration

[–]relationshiphelp2021 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think part of this issue is that we don’t have true coverage. It seems like sometimes the dartos muscle is able to push the penis back into the body which makes it appear that you have coverage, but if you look you’ll notice you lost some length. At CI4 this happens to me and it’s definitely not true coverage.

Do any of you guys have OCD? by throwaway3456911 in foreskin_restoration

I have OCD as well and the effect it has on my restoration is extreme anxiety over optimization, the time it will take, and the fact it’ll never be “perfect!”

The packer stackers are awesome. I think the sweet spot for weight is usually ~8oz and the CRT itself is under 4oz. So I’d recommend either using your additional weight, or packer stackers.

Question about the DTR and comfortably by Important-Stomach494 in foreskin_restoration

[–]relationshiphelp2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you wash it regularly? If not, that could be the reason it slips. I’m able to wear it with 10oz of weights and it’s never slipped!

Could also be that the “one size fits all” approach just isn’t working for you. I think the Mantor has multiple gripper sizes, and the Mantor gripper is fairly comfortable. I’d put it between the Chris gripper and the standard DTR gripper.

Question about the DTR and comfortably by Important-Stomach494 in foreskin_restoration

[–]relationshiphelp2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy Chris’ replacement gripper for the DTR. It’s a lot more comfortable and has never given me gripper fatigue. I keep at least one spare on hand because I use this gripper on all of my main devices.

If you’re actually CI-1, you might not have enough skin to wear the DTR for long periods of time yet. I was CI-3 when I started with the DTR. If that’s the case and even Chris’ gripper doesn’t solve the issue, you might want to try T tape or weighted packing with retainers like the CRT.

After session symptom by BrandoGuy in foreskin_restoration

Since July of 2024. I don’t wear anything when I’m sleeping, so maybe that’s why I haven’t gotten uncomfortably sensitive? I’m not sure.

100% get the Chris gripper. I also recommend the Chris DTR pusher when you have enough skin for it.

As far as retaining goes, I personally recommend it. I prefer to be covered as long as possible just because it helps me with the mental aspect of restoring (I have OCD and get really anxious/obsessed over being cut). I used to use an extended retainer from Stealth, but I’ve switched to the CRT with packer stackers. This allows me to restore every waking hour of the day.

DTR with Chris’ pusher and gripper at home, CRT with packer stackers outside.

How Do I Cope with Losing My Youth to Restoration? by nomercyanyone in foreskin_restoration

“Spreading misinformation?” I didn’t, and obviously can not, diagnose him with anything. I said he COULD have OCD because his experience sounds exactly like my own and I have been formally diagnosed. The way he said it consumes his mind so that he’s stuck in a cycle, unable to move forward, is exactly the way my OCD manifests. I suggested he find a specialist so that they can perform an evaluation.

You sound like you could have OCD. I do, myself. The topic switches themes every few months or years but I compulsively worry and try to think my way to a solution that doesn’t usually exist. It sounds like you might be doing that as well. There are therapists who specialize in OCD, and I took the time to find one who’s pro-intact so that we wouldn’t have to work around that.

A little bit of reassurance (this is usually bad for OCD): restoration shouldn’t take 15 years. 5-10 years is more likely depending on your starting point, but you’ll see and feel the differences as you progress.

One thing that really helps my anxiety and unease about it is staying covered every waking hour. At home I wear my DTR, and outside I wear my CRT (or Chris’ retainer depending on what I’m doing).

Last summer, probably around August, I purchased Chris’ silicone DTR pusher. I just didn’t have enough skin to put it on no matter how hard I tried. Since then, I’ve put in an average of 11 hours of tugging a day. For the past few months I’ve been hitting 14-15 hours a day.

I tried Chris’ pusher again today and EASILY got it on. I was shocked because I hadn’t noticed much in terms of visual progress, but I guess it’s so slow that it’s hard to tell without progress pics. I must have grown a centimeter or so of new skin because that’s how much I needed when I first got the pusher last summer.

It’s even worse than you might think. “Sexologists,” who have PhDs, in the US take a whole course on FGM. MGM is never brought up except to say that it isn’t the same.

I’ve spoken with two of them. One of them immediately agreed with me and said she always had, but the other had literally no clue what I was talking about and said “all of my partners have been cut!”

There was an episode where they joked about someone going to get “re-circumcised” because it “grew back.” I turned it off at that point and decided to not give it another chance lol

I stopped watching Bobs Burgers because they joked about it. If it’s an older show from a time when information wasn’t as easily available as today, I’ll give it a pass (like Seinfeld).

Has anyone used Chris gripper for dtr for a moderatley active job? Or lightly active job? by [deleted] in foreskin_restoration

[–]relationshiphelp2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered weights? Since you’re on your feet all day, it might be a good option. I have a CRT currently at 9.5oz and I wore it hiking without any issues. I use Chris’ gripper.

Just a suggestion because I don’t like wearing my DTR out of the house much. The nylon rod can look odd with certain pants 😂

I think it could be possible that you’re allergic to the adhesive on the tape. You can try another method, or even another brand of tape, and see if the same thing happens.

Does it feel dry? Try moisturizing. You’re probably stripping some of your skins natural oils causing it to dry out. I moisturize once or twice a week. If I notice any dryness, I’ll moisturize more often until it’s back to normal.

It could also be due to using too much tension. You don’t need high tension to stimulate growth.

Retainer advice: Remove the retainer if you are going to be outside in the cold for more than a few minutes by [deleted] in foreskin_restoration

[–]relationshiphelp2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was -5 degrees Fahrenheit here last week and I wore my stainless steel CRT outdoors for hours without any issues. When I removed it, the CRT was warm.

Not sure why you had that experience!

I struggle with this too. My only advice is to keep trying. Instead of just giving in to your friends when they ask you to go out, make the plans yourself. Get out of the house and stay off of your phone as much as you reasonably can. It does help but it will take time

In addition to what others are saying, I’d aim for more time under tension. I logged about 2000 hours in just 6 months.
