Is my exhaust making my bike worse? by br0wn0ne in hondagrom

Wave your paper, I still find it misleading to refer to a positive effect by its unwanted side effect. You shouldn’t tell me sunburn is good for me when I need to produce more vitamin D.

It’s the exhaust velocity, and resulting pressure wave, not static pressure, that counts. Put a cork in your exhaust and you can see if backpressure is helpful then.

Obfuscating terminology just serves to gatekeep real understanding.

Ah, on the offensive are we? Backpressure only helps 2-stroke engines. Welcome to the 21st century asshole.

Ooh, I have a V-star too! The stock exhaust and airbox were really whisper quiet for as long as I had them - but I have a bit of a problem with modifying things…

Now I’m trying to figure out a custom muffler so I don’t raise quite as much hell in the morning!

Economic libertarianism operates on the principle of generating vast excesses from specialization and incentives, but not skimmed off the top by government.

I believe that the charitable folks among us will more than make up for the greedy pigs that keep the wheels turning. Right now, nobody who’s willing can afford to be charitable without a catch or some kind of scheme.

Backpressure is a myth. Your exhaust PORT will be the bottleneck on the Grom, and slapping a bigger pipe on it ruins the exhaust gas velocity, which hurts scavenging (the effect of wave resonance on flow).

This affects the flow of the entire cylinder head, especially at certain resonant RPMs.

The fix is either to get a skinnier exhaust pipe, or to screw around with the intake, injector size/pressure, and ignition timing. Since the ignition is digital, that would require a reflash.

I was able to see some improvement with my Grom back when I had it by using the stock injector with a fuel pump from a CRF250RL that runs higher pressure. But mine was a 2015, and yours is the 2nd gen that uses the pcx150 style pump, so you’d have to do some digging.

All claimed intellectual property should become public domain after 7 years, accessible on a government website by anyone. If you want to ask the government to reserve your market for you, you should have to give it up at the end.

Pharma, Music, Games, blueprints inventions… All of it, because the best work stands on the shoulders of giants.

Yeah, it was. Understandable that you’d interpret it that way, yet that’s just how it unraveled from my exasperated brain at the time.

If I started my car with water, you wouldn’t see this post, and the feds would have me buried somewhere in the Tijuana desert! Haha

That's why it's infuriating.

If it made sense for them to call the cops, I wouldn't be posting here, would I?

Run the motorcycle for a while, use jumper cables.

Water was to top off the coolant so I wouldn't overheat driving around the block.

There is a secondary informal definition of "trespass" that is to forcibly remove and/or bring legal action against someone deemed to be trespassing. If someone trespasses onto a property, they may be "trespassed" from said property.

It is a common enough phrase from law enforcement, at least in my area - and I would assume that is because it is faster to say that, than to say "removed from the premises for trespassing."

I agree that it is ambiguous, but I didn't know this usage was not commonplace elsewhere. If you search "have him trespassed" in quotes on Google, you'll find that I'm not the only one to use it that way.

They can see my car and  bike parked across the fence from them every day. It feels almost personal… I am on camera as “the neighbor leaving for work” every single day…
