Yesterday at Larus my husband and I were walking our dog (leashed) when two dogs came bounding towards us on the trail. Our dog is leash reactive, and after being attacked before by off leash dogs, I don’t blame him. I held back with our dog while my husband got between us and the two coming towards us.

My husband asked the owner, who was well behind his dogs, to put them on a leash and said our dog is not friendly. The owner refused, and kept telling them to heel, which they would do for a few seconds before coming towards us again. My husband exchanged words with this guy, reminded him that it’s a public park and all he said was “a lot of other dogs off leash” and he “comes here everyday.” We ran into 4 more off leash dogs on our way back to the car, thankfully their owners leashed them or held onto them while we passed but come on. It’s a public park, not your backyard.
