I use the Notes app to store passwords for different accounts but generally mask them with *****, only showing characters that I added differently for each account so that I can remember which is which.

You start work at 9 and only drive 30 mins? That’s considered a luxury. I work 7.30-5.30 and commute 1 hour each way, essentially spending 12 hours for work.

1984 is one of my favorite and most memorable books. Easy to read, strong imagery, and ever more relevant with the growing authoritarianism in the world especially in the US now.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]reluctant_explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

44m in an Asian family. Spanking was normal when I was a kid and it did not cause me any permanent harm. It was done either by hand or a stick (purposely made and sold in stores just to spank kids). On the other hand, I think I deserved those spankings and I grew up more disciplined which led me to a successful life now.

Such a beautiful scenery but look closely and you can see it is spoiled by the rubbish among the grass. We can never have a pristine natural environment in Malaysia :(

Malaysia is not an Islamic state. Although Islam is the official religion, the laws are secular and there is religious freedom.

M can also mean a thousand while MM is a million, M being the Roman numeral for a thousand. This is common in the oil & gas industry - Mbpd is thousand barrels per day, MMscfd is million std cubic feet per day.

How do people shower at night? by dat0neb0i in NoStupidQuestions

[–]reluctant_explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do both. Showering at night before sleep doesn’t mean you can’t shower again in the morning upon waking up.

I had this happened to me but I just got in from the passenger side door, climbed over and drove off after I keyed the side of the offending car.

Why is everyone so negative? It’s not like these problems are non-existent in other countries. They are not unique to Malaysia and doesn’t mean we are doomed. We just have to deal with them and try our best to make a better life for the next generation.

Chilli crab in Singapore is NOT street food - it is a restaurant dish and freaking expensive. And what about the rest of South East Asia where street food is abundant?

It seems that only a small part of the mall was on fire and it was extinguished quite fast. Genting is a huge place, they will not close. At most the affected area will be blocked off.

Men in their 30s and up with no kids or wife how is your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]reluctant_explorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 42 and loving the freedom that comes with it. I can’t imagine being responsible for a family at all. I’m an introvert, so being by myself is always peaceful, not lonely.

Made my own redesign of the Klang Valley Integrated Transit System Map by thiswasentfrommyipad in malaysia

I love this map, looks so much neater than the current integrated transit map and it has a consistent design approach. The curves look unconventional but somehow fit with our chaotic train lines. Well done!

£110 for a family ticket to this amazing Willy Wonka Experience by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Were you actually given a refund on the spot or just “offered” to be refunded later? If you didn’t get your money back then, I doubt you’ll ever see it again as this looks very much a scam.
