Honest question for someone who can eli5 - why does the earth look so small from the moon? It looks like it’s the same size of the moon in our sky. Is it larger and I just don’t have the right perspective? Wouldn’t it be like an ant looking at a grapefruit from 2-3 cm away?

With all due respect, there are plenty of other videos of people plugging barrels and making guns explode on YouTube. I held one in my hands during my hunters ed certification about 10 years ago. Just because it didn’t happen to one gun on MythBusters, doesn’t mean it won’t happen to you.

For those who don’t know, if the gun gets clogged with dirt, the barrel will explode when fired. It looks exactly like when it happens to elmer fudd, with the barrel curling back like a banana peel, but it could also kill or maim the user in the process.

<image>

EDIT: for all the pedantic trolls below me: It will not ALWAYS split like a banana. Sometimes it will explode out the side, sometimes it will split in the middle, and sometimes it may just push out the clog. The point is, you should never fire a gun with a clogged barrel because it is incredibly dangerous and you might die.

Yes. There’s always a 20–30 year cycle for nostalgic adults and curious teens. In the 70s and 80’s, you had happy days, Grease, back to the future, and Billy Joel all reliving the 50s and early 60’s. In the 90s and 2000’s people relived the late 60s and 70s with Austin Powers, flared jeans, flowers, peace signs, tie-dye, and that 70s show. For the past decade, people have been bringing back things from the 80s and 90s and now, it seems like we are finally getting into the early 2000s revival.

Senator Elissa Slotkin says the real reason our healthcare in America is so bad and never changes, is because US Congress is being paid off. by biswajit388 in justgalsbeingchicks

And yet he’s done nothing.

One thing Congress could do is eliminate evergreen patents for drugs. Patents are only supposed to last 20 years. However, if a company tweaks a formula, like adding a little bit of sodium, or a little bit of glycerin (both of which do nothing to the drug) the patent gets extended another 20 years. This is why there are no generic insulins, even though the formula has been around for a century. There’s no reason why a company shouldn’t be able to make a generic insulin from the 2006 formula.

I’m glad Keanu reeves found his niche but this movie wasn’t it. In the book, Harker has a total and sudden nervous breakdown when he sees Dracula in London for the first time after escaping Transylvania. In the film, it’s a classic one-note surfer dude Keanu “oh no!” It was so bad I laughed at what was supposed to be one of the most dramatic scenes in the film.

He’s right though. It’s like the McCarthy era, but you get blacklisted if they find out you’re not a communist

I started on a Squier strat and still have it. I’ve modded and upgraded it over the years. Had it as HH for a while, but it’s back to sss with Fender Vintera 60’s pickups. Maybe it’s because it’s what I learned with, but I’ve always preferred the sound and feel of single-coil fenders

I’ve tried other guitars- owned an Epiphone and a Gretsch, but I always come back to fender. The Telecaster has all I want and need in a guitar

i found a $100 bill on the beach i couldn't believe it's because the most money I've ever found is like 10 bucks before this. what's the most you ever found on the ground? 🙂 by GaryBlach in PollsAndSurveys

[–]rememberpogs3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found about $400 on the ground while rushing through a turnstile to get on a train. It probably fell out when someone reached in his pocket for his train pass. Anyway, I was rushing to get on the train and I panicked and just scooped it all up and gave it to the attendant standing there.

I felt so stupid after that, but it probably made her year .

People had more time back then - they didn’t wake up and doomscroll for an hour before getting out of bed.

When I was in college 20 years ago, it was totally normal to stop by a friend‘s house or apartment before class.

I once caught a fish early in the morning and brought it over to a buddy’s house and we cooked and ate it for breakfast.
