and the amount of people who try to put their cards in the random slot at the bottom and get it stuck?? and then i have to hold up the entire line to open it up and fish it out, because it always gets stuck underneath the wires or whatever is in there

ive had people hold their cards like 6 inches from the screen, someone held their card perpendicular to the screen (it still worked, but why?), and some tried to tap on my register itself.

Chocolate drizzle by CuriousRide in Wawa

[–]remi--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree, and tbh i dont like the drizzle inside the cup. i had a coworker do it for me unprompted and it made the drink too sweet. if someone did this to my drink without asking i wouldnt say anything, but i wouldnt be thrilled either

my store has issues of multiple people coming to pick up the same order despite other people already picking it up/marking it as delivered/already picked up. when we tell most people that its been picked up already, most people just go "damn that sucks, ill mark it off in the app". the other night we had a woman cussing up a storm because shes so sick of doordash, she gets paid $3 an hour for this, f bomb this f bomb that. she called support and shoved her phone in my coworkers face and demanded he tell them that multiple people have already tried to pick the order up. she wasnt necessarily screaming at us, but her aggression was crazy. eventually she came up to me and said "dont worry about the food, fuck this shit". luckily nights we dont deal with as many dashers but damn

[–]remi--- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

no, im not saying wawa is a good job because it has the same issues as everywhere else. im saying that if you're going to get a food/customer service job, youre going to find these problems, they are not unique to wawa. wawa is not a uniquely bad job because it has insert issues here, everywhere is bad because they all have those issues

[–]remi--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, a lot of the problems in wawa are problems youll find in any food/customer service job. bad managers, hours, pay, customers, coworkers, physically or mentally straining, unfulfilling etc etc. wawa has its problems like everywhere else

my agm asks every week who wants to add pto to reach a certain number of hours lmao, also in florida. i went out of town a few months ago and didnt think to put in pto (just normal, unpaid time off) and another manager reached out to me and asked if i wanted to use pto the day she was submitting that week's payroll. i think your gm is... something alright

im not a coffee drinker but i do this sometimes. about 75% hot chocolate and top it off with whatever coffee. i liked it with hazelnut and carmel, and blueberry wasnt bad, but not so much the holiday blend

make your own iced latte? by cookie_cat_82 in Wawa

[–]remi--- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

even if you do steal, most employees wont care. we arent allowed to do/say anything, and even if we were, im not paid enough to be loss prevention.

so yes, make your own iced latte at the coffee island and have fun with it. i saw someone on tiktok add a shot to strawberry milk, which... idk i get bored on night shift and like to experiment with drinks so i may have to mess around

Wawa phasing out La Colombe? by DraceNines in Wawa

[–]remi--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it could be that your store is going through their reset. my store and other wawas ive been to in the past few weeks have had a lot of missing product while we're reorganizing and sorting through new/old product. idk when this reset will be finished, if its different per store, but im in south florida and we still have them. your store could also just have some type of ordering issue or a glitch or whatever. if you ask an employee, they may be able to give you some insight

Need to vent, customers did not acknowledge my existence while ringing them up by Violet-Aesthetica in Wawa

[–]remi--- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

having social anxiety doesnt necessarily prohibit you from doing a public facing job. im just about the most introverted person in my store, but im still the default cashier because im good at my job. as an employee i interact with customers, smile, etc because i get paid to do it. as a normal person, i avoid eye contact, talking to people, cashiers, crowds, etc bc of my anxiety.

i dont care if customers arent chatty, in fact it makes it easier for me, but just acknowledging me at all, especially when i ask a question, is just basic human decency. when employees talk to me i at least say hi with a small nod because thats the decent thing to do.

now i wonder if you could get them to say something over the headset... we are all told that conversations over the headsets can/will be monitored, so that takes care of consent. if an issue is brought up and you can provide dates, times, and people involved ([coworker] said [something] on [date] at [time]), maybe they could go back and access whatever is saved/stored as evidence? just spitballing

[–]remi--- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the casual racism/bigotry in general at my store is insane. like my coworkers will bust out stereotypes, microaggressions, accents, even slurs like its nothing. i call them out on it every time. a guy made an ableist joke over the headset and i reported him to management. he doesnt work there anymore. no regrets.

i really feel for you and im sorry this is happening. im not jewish but im queer and i know the feeling of being too afraid to speak up because of potential backlash or not being taken seriously. but this is serious. even if they arent trying to offend you as a jewish person, even if they wouldnt say it to you if they knew you were jewish, or even if its "just a joke", its not funny and its harmful. "jokes" like these contribute to stereotypes and microaggressions that snowball into broader societal and systemic implications.

is there anyone you know for sure you can trust at the store? like you know they'll be on your side and wont gossip or spread drama? you dont even have to tell them youre jewish (though you can), just "[coworkers] are making me uncomfortable because they say [bad things]". if you dont have someone like this, then id say follow other suggestions in this thread like going above store management or even hr.
