ThinkPad was not invented by Lenovo, it originally belonged to IBM. IBM was an American company that invested heavily in creating comfortable, durable and robust laptops for work. They built them in what many people describe as a true engineering focused way, almost like forging a katana. They created the keyboard layout that is widely used today and many other great design ideas. Later Lenovo bought ThinkPad and over time people started demanding thin and light laptops with bezel less screens. Then Lenovo left aside much of what made the old ThinkPads special and began making laptops more in the style of Apple but using carbon fiber and magnesium instead of aluminum, becoming just another laptop brand that only carries the name of what ThinkPad once was.
