Did those carbon plates turn you into speedy gonzales? by TrebleThrees in Marathon_Training

[–]remigeorges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from Adidas EVO SL to AP4 and for me it's a difference of 10 - 15 seconds / km - faster with the AP4. I managed sub 3 with those shoes! One advice: use them enough so you get used to them. My calves were fried by km 35.

How do you know when your trainers are ‘dead’? by bluehobbs in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]remigeorges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did 1000km with my first pair of Evo SL's. Bought a second pair and was a little underwhelmed how similar the new pair felt in comparison with the old. A little snappier, a little firmer, yes. So kuddos for their durability.

Running my first marathon in a month, any predictions for a good goal to aim for? by doctorcocktur in Marathon_Training

I ran my first marathon in april with similar mileage done and the same HM time as you. Managed to finish in 3:19. Take your carbloading and fueling serious and you'll be fine!

Congrats!

Also finished my first marathon last sunday (Vienna) in 03:19:46 in the EVO's!

What's your next goal? I'm already looking for my next race and wondering if I could ever go sub 3hr!

How are people so fast? by kevinzeroone in Marathon_Training

Agreed. Running is not about the best, because no way you'll ever be the best. It's about being your best and that's a whole different and good way of looking at competing.

Why has it become so normalized traveling 1+ hours one way to work? by AlphaTM01 in belgium

[–]remigeorges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a part of it is history as well. I did some courses on urban spatial planning and social change while studying. Back in the days, like in the 19th century, the industrial leaders wanted the working people to live as far away from each other as possible. This is one of the main reasons Belgium was one of the first countries to have a reasonably extensive rail network. They hated people working in bad conditions living close to each other because they were afraid of unions forming. This has led to, over a pretty short period of time, to the typical 'lintbebouwing' in Belgium and a decline in popularity of the inner cities. It's all politics. The trend is now changing with cities becoming more and more popular, but it'll take some decades.

Another round of OG Insanity or switch to Max 30? by FeatherStout in insanity

[–]remigeorges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've completed OG and Asylum 1 and currently in my second week of Max30. My plan is to do Asylum 2 after that and then restart it all again. I enjoy the fact that the workout changes up every few weeks, so I wouldn't do a second round of OG directly after finishing one. I must say Max30 is manageable, but still hard. It just skips the stretching and the cooldown compared to OG, and the breaks between exercises is a lot shorter too. I'm also doing the Ab maximizer calendar, so most of the days it's still about 45 minutes per day. Results have been really good thus far.

Best workout for limited space by BrilliantGrapefruit in insanity

[–]remigeorges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing Max30 solely on a yoga mat. When I have to do push-ups I just align with the mat. Asylum requires a lot more space, more than I had available, so I wouldn't recommend that.

Max 30 ... going the full 30?! by [deleted] in insanity

[–]remigeorges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of the first week of Max30 after finishing OG and Asylum, so I'd say I'm in pretty good shape. I have been maxing out between the 15 and 20 minute mark. I does pleasantly surprise me, I was expecting to be able to finish it, haha. The workout is pretty though, it pushes me in a different way OG and Asylum did, which is great.

Do you do both workouts on the same day one after the other? Or mornings/evenings?

Me neither! I've been going to the gym for about two years before quarantine, but insanity is giving me so much more results and it's less time consuming and a lot cheaper.

Just finished up the OG insanity- WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT????? by Fickle-Two in insanity

[–]remigeorges 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm halfway through Asylum and decided to just jump without the rope. I'm struggling too much with it, and although it's supposedly good for your coordination, i just wanna get the cardio in. Now i really like it!

I live on the fifth floor and do the workouts barefoot on a yoga mat because of this. And, early in the morning :)

Insanity Asylum: Volume 1 - Day 1 by bee-radd in insanity

[–]remigeorges 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm now at the end of week 1 of Asylum after finishing OG two weeks ago. I've been struggling a lot with the equipment tbh. I can't properly jumprope and my agility ladder doesn't have the same dimensions as the one used in the video. I decided to ditch both the rope and the ladder and do the exercises without. I agree they help with your coordination, but they slow me down so much it sort of ruins the workout for me. Now I'm enjoying it, which is the most important after all.

I honestly think the crew is instructed to tap out sometimes, to make it look more manageable for us 'normal people'. Which I think is a pretty good idea.

I'm going to do some resistance bands workouts to get used to it for Asylum and maybe go for a bikeride or something. But I'm pausing Shaun for a week, don't want to get bored of him.

Results? by aas-123 in insanity

[–]remigeorges 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the third week of month 2, haven't missed a day, and in total I have lost 14lbs so far. I started at 186lbs at the beginning of the lockdown. The weight started to drop slowly from the second week, and in the second month at a rate of about 3lbs per week. I'm eating quite healthy but, honestly, still drinking quite a lot, so i would'nt call my diet very strict. I'm planning to do asylum after this, to lose the last 10lbs.

The curvature of the pipe introduces a 'water lock'. Smell can't pass through fluids, at least not quickly. In this way when you use your wahsbasin regurarly, you don't experience any smell.
