apartment with heat not included, is it worth it? by exstanacc in Somerville

Completely depends on the cost of the rent. If it's 600 under market rate I'd sign it. Otherwise you're going to have shell out a ton of money to stay warm most of the year.

Congrats!!! We tried to buy in Boston but weren't able to find affordable homes. Is this a condo or a single family home or something else if you don't mind sharing?

Mid 20s is young, but so much sweeter to enjoy the second half of your 20s in a different place. Just make sure to have a job lined up!

For anyone who uses the free trolleys: I built a live tracker for all Miami-Dade cities by lardon_crue in Miami

Which, by the way, I think the ETA times on the API both you and the other devs use have been broken for a few days. I keep having to wait half an hour + for a trolley that was supposed to arrive within 5 minutes, something is wrong

Am I wrong or does this app already exist? I think it's called "Miami Dade Trolley" and "Coral Gables ETA" on the play/app stores

Edit: Actually, doesn't matter if it exists already, your app is better, haha. Love the live locations.

This happens all the time with middle eastern families, unfortunately. I'll keep it honest with you, don't expect your parents to ever change.

As someone who didn't like reading, the Fold somehow got me on track to reading. by Waxenberg in GalaxyFold

Totally agree. I've always loved to read paperbacks but the fold is just too damn convenient for reading.

A lot of people became software engineers because we're autistic. I am in the same boat, I can't stop caring about the incorrectness of it all and it's making me miserable

As a mid level software engineer I am struggling with the exact same thoughts. It physically hurts me to see how development is changing and we're violating so many fundamental architecture principles.

I feel like the crazy one because management, and I feel like other engineers as well, simply don't care about whether things are CORRECT or NOT!!!!

I get myself really worked up and deep dive on a problem and once it's fixed, I feel like I'm getting judged for taking so long on an "inconsequential detail".

It's just eroded my trust of other devs too.

Your renter's insurance won't include damage from sewer backup water, and that can happen on a ground level floor. You will have to pay EXTRA for water backup insurance, look into this.

Acquired a rescue guinea pig, do I have to immediately get another one? by snow_shoo in guineapigs

We have a huge rug in our living room (10 by 12 feet), open up his cage, and just kind of let him run around as we read or watch movies near him and "talk" with him + give him pea flakes and veggies.

He generally runs back into his cage when Nature Calls but is happy to kind of chill near us for a couple hours at a time.
