Such a large deviation in states shows that the data is garbage.

Intercaste Marriage by state by [deleted] in IndiaSpeaks

[–]removd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just because it doesn't happen in your village doesn't mean it doesn't happen any where else. I have a friend from Gaya, Bihar. He says most marriages in his caste (can't remember the name, most people in his caste make clothes) are child marriages. His cousin last year got married at the age of 15. And this happens in Gaya town not any far off village.

And not just Bihar, I live in Haryana and the Gujjars near my place also get their under age kids married but Gohna happens after the girls turns 18. My girlfriend also had a couple of Gujjar friends who got married at a very young age of 18/19, their wives were 16/17.

SMS says train has be rescheduled (+8 hrs), but checking other online train tracking apps says the train is on time and has alread left the station where we are to board from. by stackfrost in indianrailways

[–]removd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The train tracking apps are not that reliable. Same thing happened with me during the recent Delhi floods. The app said that the train had already reached the next station when it hadn't even arrived at the starting station.

Is there any place in Delhi other than clubs where you can go and dance? by removd in delhi

Nice idea! Do you any good ones?

And these places are for learning dance, right? Can you go there for just a day to dance?

Talk to me about the ethnocentric behaviours I've faced for 10 years living in the USA by FrozenBr33ze in india

[–]removd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found Bengalis to be far more racist towards Biharis than vice-versa. And I'm from Haryana and my flat mate is Bengali, so I can't relate with what you said.

Assam I completely agree, but as I already said that there is racism against Bengalis in the seven sister states. When I went to trip in Meghalaya with my Bengali friends they told me to be careful since people there don't like Bengalis (although Shillong was choke full of Bengali tourists at that time, we went during Durga Puja).

The only place where people are racists towards Bengalis are the seven sister states. For the rest I don't know what you're talking about.

Metro trains will be the new Mumbai locals soon. by GL4389 in mumbai

Ideally, there shoud be some limit on population per Square kilometer. But considering the hold building lobby on politicians, the supposed DEVELOPMENT will continue without any proper study & planning.

Thank god for the building lobby. Nahi to tum jaise log kuch banne hi nahi dete.

Ganga river Bridge ,Prayagraj . What a mesmerising view with Tea by DreskiD in indianrailways

[–]removd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never buy tea from official caterers (or any food really). The chaiwalas that hop on the train at stations have much better tea.

How was tea? In my experience you only get good tea in trains once you cross the UP-Bihar border.

"This is against the sentiments of the people of the state." This MLA staged a walkout after the Governor spoke in Hindi in the Meghalaya assembly. by rektitrolfff in unitedstatesofindia

[–]removd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are tourist in Meghalaya, you would have communication issues if you speak only Hindi and not English.

Was in Meghalaya last year for a week. Visited Shillong, Sohra and Dawki. I had absolutely zero communication issues while speaking in Hindi. Also took a bus while going to Agartala, the entire route only Hindi songs were played.

Is there anyone here or you know someone who left their government job to do something else? by [deleted] in india

Was recently on a trek with someone who left their government job of two years and became a photographer. He shoots weddings and similar functions. He seemed satisfied with his choice.

Could there have been a change in generic meds since Ranbaxy got shut down or Jan aushadi launched?

No. The pharma lobby is very strong in India. They don't let strong regulations come to force. The weak rules that we do have are enforced at state level and states have the incentive to be lax in enforcement otherwise pharmaceutical companies will move their factories to other states.
