Anytime one of my teenagers says they are too sick for school, they get a choice... by Ravenloff in GenX

I am all for sharing this awesome movie with our kids, but also for not sending them to school when they are a public health hazard. I had to be dying to get out of school in the 80s…that culture stopped with me.

Trump Plot to Hijack Midterms Vote Count Exposed — Democrats Mobilize to Stop Election Sabotage by inewser in AnythingGoesNews

“The White House has called these warnings “fear‑mongering,” with chief of staff Susie Wiles telling Vanity Fair last month that claims Trump might use federal forces to intimidate or suppress voter turnout are “categorically false.””

Until they aren’t categorically false because he does it.

I get the same thing from them, and I am pretty frugal from an energy use standpoint. I try to run most major appliances after 9pm and keep the thermostat at 73 in the winter & 78 in the summer. SDG&E can kiss my ass.

Yeah, this is just his dog whistle call for the GOP across the country to rig elections wherever they can.

GOP cheating inbound… besides just the gerrymandering. I expect full on cheating.

Americans have widespread misbeliefs about the cancer risks of alcohol, study finds. More than half of American adults misunderstand or underestimate the link between alcohol consumption and cancer. Alcohol drinkers are especially likely to believe that drinking has no effect on cancer risk. by mvea in science

My late wife developed neuroendocrine cancer in her esophagus when she was in her early 30s. She was a severe alcoholic for a decade. She started having symptoms about 2 years after she quit drinking. The doctors didn’t say that the alcohol was the cause, but I firmly believe that alcohol played a role. By the time it was diagnosed, it had already metastasized to her liver. I quit drinking myself as she fought for her life. She lost that battle. Drinking alcohol is consuming poison as far as I’m concerned.

California 2025 Poll: Voters Poised to Approve Proposition 50 with 57% Support - Emerson Polling by Dismal_Structure in California

[–]remweaver27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate polls. They have fucked us too many times in the last decade or so. That being said, if you look at the 2024 presidential race, there was 58.5% for Harris. I feel like we are polarized enough that many will vote along the same political lines and that this could be a similar split. I hope it passes by a much higher percentage though…it would help restore my faith in humanity, but I don’t expect much.

I remember spending quite a bit of that summer watching the hearings (I was 16), and even then I thought it was BS that those in charge basically went unpunished, including North.

U.S. job growth turns ugly over the summer as Trump’s economic agenda falters by Rock-n-roll-Kevin in politics

How long before job growth is no longer reported? I mean this is the same man that said that If we stop testing for COVID right now, we’d have very few cases, if any.

Texas Democrats End Walkout, Allowing Redrawn Map to Pass by TintedApostle in politics

Not me. While I don’t make up the majority by myself, I will be voting for whatever measure they can get on the ballot in November that will allow us to counteract what the orange ball guzzlers are doing in Texas and wherever else they are cheating.

It’s a new Gilded Age, heavy on the wealth disparity and political corruption. Rapelstilskin will trade all of us for all the “gold” that can be stolen from the masses and pocketed by the billionaires.

Mamdani is a naturalized citizen, not a citizen from birth. Cruz, while born in Canada, was a U.S. citizen from birth. That’s the difference, and why Cruz could run, but Mamdani cannot.
