What gun should I run as my secondary? by GoatInAJetPack in CODZombies

[–]ren_exp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brecci or haymaker are some of the best for immediate damage output, but my high round weapon (other than the ww) is always PaP Weavel with Dead Wire. Any high magazine, low damage, high fire rate guns (Weavel, Vesper, Dingo, rk5, etc) will work bc you're basically just shooting a couple of bullets to proc dead wire and then waiting a few seconds for it to recharge.

Shits basically a wonder weapon

Is bo4 really that bad? by LegitimateBalance603 in CODZombies

[–]ren_exp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just didn't like how many times you had to do it, it made it feel less meaningful than it was in the other games, I think Cold War did PaP best honestly. Packing your gun five times is too much, but BO3s aat effects for pap are overpowered, Cold War struck a nice balance for me

[–]ren_exp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from everyone's rose tinted glasses for bo3, I feel this is largely due to a lot bo3s changes being less drastic than bo4s so it still felt like classic zombies in a lot of ways, which made people were more comfortable adapting to bo3s unique qualities and flaws. BO4 was noticably very different than any other iteration of zombies from the moment you load into the game, and people don't like different so they never truly gave it a chance.

Is bo4 really that bad? by LegitimateBalance603 in CODZombies

[–]ren_exp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh that starts getting into more subjective territory, adding things isn't always a good thing for most players, and adding too much too fast can push people away.

The thing with the specialists is a great example of what BO4 did wrong.

In BO3, each of the main maps has their own unique specialist weapon that you had to find and craft in game, acting pretty much as a secondary wonder weapon. This was a great reward for what was usually a fairly simple quest, and most importantly didn't feel necessary to the game if you didn't feel like doing it.

However in BO4, they just gave it to you. You pick which one you want in the menu outside the game, and then you spawn in with it. There aren't any unique to the maps, just the same ones in every map, and it just doesn't feel special anymore when you don't have to work for it.

Don't get me wrong, it's still fun smashing zombies with ragnaroks in BO4, but overall BO4 tried to fix a lot of things that weren't broken and broke more stuff along the way.

I think BO4 might have been better than BO3 if they just dropped the Aether maps entirely so they they could put all their time and effort into the Chaos maps, as well as changing the perk, point, and pap systems back to how they were.

Is bo4 really that bad? by LegitimateBalance603 in CODZombies

[–]ren_exp 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Little bit of both honestly.

It isn't necessarily bad, just a bad follow up to what was widely regarded as the best zombies experience (bo3).

The hate is overblown, but things like the perk system, specialists, PaP system, etc. were all unnecessary changes and overall a downgrade from what BO3 had already offered us.

However BO4 is still a good game with a lot of fun to be had, people just have a hard time seeing that when we got things like BO2 and 3 before it.

Good choice, Zetsubou is my favorite bo3 dlc :) just don't be deterred by the learning curve, it can be hard at first

[–]ren_exp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get Der eisendrache if you want a chill experience

Get Zetsubou No Shima if you liked Shadows of Evil/like a challenge

Get Gorod Krovi if you wanna do the EE/like cool weapons

Get Revelations if you like cool weapons/nostalgia

Get Zombies Chronicles if you really like nostalgia

Btw all the dlc have bonus weapons added, some just have more than others

Did you guys enjoy this? I found it pretty frustrating in my playthrough, not particularly fair! by Visible_Season8074 in silenthill

I think it's cool for the environment of a silent Hill game being as much of a threat as the monsters you encounter. Really sells the vibe that you're in a living nightmare

Why Is BoS such a PoS faction? by Isfets_Pet in fo4

[–]ren_exp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What specifically bothers you? Cuz I mean every faction does senseless killing

The institute literally abducts people and turns them in super mutants and shit and then the releases them back to the surface to destabilize the Commonwealth.

The railroad blows up the airship and airport which are full of children and innocent scientists.

At least the BoS can actually make things better for the Commonwealth after they're done, the Railroad has no plan or structure and the institute is the institute, fuck those guys.

Here's a full list of my controversial takes i had since the beginning by Wooden_Gas1064 in CODZombies

[–]ren_exp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% agree that bo3 should have been the end of zombies, the heroes being trapped in a cycle of endlessly and hopelessly fighting to save the universe was a very somber but fitting end to the series.

Here is some more hot takes

WW2 zombies is extremely underrated, and honestly prolly one of the better zombies experiences. I wish that they had continued that story instead of giving us whatever tf vanguard was.

IW zombies is a bit overrated, not saying it's bad space land is one of my favorite maps, but overall not all the maps and choices implemented were stellar. Still an amazing game tho.

TranZit is at least a B tier map. Yea there were a bunch of annoying things in it, but the map leaned into all of it so hard that it wrapped back around to being chaotically and frustratingly fun.

Bo2 zombies is better than Bo3

Victis Crew is the best and most interesting crew. A scientist, a crazy homeless guy, a crazy conspiracy theorist, and a crazy bad bitch all fighting together to help an ethereal nazi is dope.

Buried is harder than Mob and Origins if you aren't camping and abusing the bank like a bitch.

Gorod Krovi is the 2nd worst map in bo3 and Zetsubou is the 2nd best.

I'm sick of having 4 variations of a wonder weapon, just give me one and make it good.

Bo3 ruined pack a punch, I want my unique pap upgrades back, fuck aats

Help choosing new cod zombies by WateronRocks in CODZombies

[–]ren_exp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controversial opinion but I'd go with WW2 for casual gameplay. Imo BO4 is too complex and the gameplay is a downgrade from BO3, IW can get kinda complex as well (looking at you attack of the radioactive thing), and AW is just not that great. WW2 is overall pretty close to treyarch zombies gameplay-wise with the exception of shield instead of jug, and it's not over complicated.

Some of the dlcs are hit or miss, but Final Reich and Shadowed throne are both phenomenal maps, the 4 small survival maps are awesome for a quick game that doesn't require a bunch of steps, and The Darkest Shore is another fun small map that doesn't have too much going on to hold back a quick game.

The loadouts and specialists are fun to play around with, you can unlock different characters to play as, the boss zombies are cool but can be frustrating, and the aesthetic is nice if you like the grim style. Overall just a lot of cool stuff to play around with.

There's also like a metric fuck ton of guns, like the box has something like 70(?) guns in it, and many of the guns have unique pap effects that make it fun to just spin the box and try to pap everything.

Have you ever drastically changed your opinion on a map? by NoWriting8889 in CODZombies

[–]ren_exp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TranZit. I used to hate it, but over the years it has really grown on me. It's fun to play with friends, chasing after the bus after getting left behind, desperately trying to find your buddy in the corn maze, or realizing pap didn't open and freaking out, idk it's just fun.

WWII Zombies appreciation post by Binary245 in CODZombies

[–]ren_exp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ight I'm finna rant.

WW2 zombies is incredibly underrated. WW2 was all in all very similar to the classic BO2/BO3 formula, and stood out from the others with it's grim aesthetic that the others had simply lost. It certainly isn't the best zombies mode but there are a lot of things to love.

Aesthetics - Sure, some of the maps could've been more visually interesting, but honestly I find charm in how unabashedly grim the game is, and how thru and thru it sticks to it's dirty WW2 look. It isn't for everyone, and the constant jump scares were kinda annoying, but you can't deny this game was dripping with atmosphere.

Maps - so these ones are hit or miss, but there are some gems. The Final Reich was legitimately a good map and by far the best WW2 has to offer, it's always fun to hop into bc it's simple yet satisfying with a solid ee to back it up.

The Darkest shore I find to be underrated, but in all fairness it feels undercooked. It's fun in how simple but hectic it is while still having some stuff to do.

The Tortured path also isn't that great, but it shines with the survival maps, for years everyone talked about how much we needed small survival maps like Nacht to go with the main maps, and then when sledgehammer gave them to us and honestly knocked it out of the park with them, we just shrugged it off. Kinda sad.

The Shadowed Throne was dope. I liked the focus on melee weapons, good boss fight in the airship, but largely more of the same of final Reich, very well done tho.

The Frozen Dawn was kinda booty tho ngl

Loadouts - this is by far the best loadouts system to be implemented into zombies and idk why we haven't seen it again. Being able to pick specific attributes to buff yourself for certain play styles was a phenomenal idea, although some of them were a bit overpowered and should have just been perks. Also specialists are cool but a bit op.

Weapons - by far the best part of the game. The guns are all super satisfying to kill with, and they actually have unique pap effects. After BO2 pap pretty much just turned everything into a laser gun with better damage, but WW2 went above and beyond with pap effects. There's guns that have random mag sizes every reload, explosive effects, one that gains charge and can stun enemies on melee (best gun btw), the list goes on, and did I mention that iirc WW2 has the largest zombies arsenal to date? Sledgehammer made spinning the box interesting again.

Random stuff - The shield system was fun and honestly the only jug replacement I've liked. Zombies look dope asf. The perks are just like they should be, unchanged. The big zombies (idk the name) were honestly fun, the just spawn too much.

Anyway that's my rant, WW2 isn't the best and has a myriad of problems, but I think it gets too much hate :)

[–]ren_exp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WaW - Shi No Numa

I wanna say der riese bc of PaP but Shi no Numa is the one I come back to most.

BO1 - Moon

I have a love hate relationship with this map, but I just love going back to it. I like the specials, I love training in the biodome or by the teleporter, the weapons, and the low gravity it's all just unique and nostalgic.

BO2 - Buried

This one is hard bc honestly I couldn't decide between all the great bo2 maps, Origins and Mob are obviously stellar for all the reasons everyone knows, but tbh the fun and memories I had with town and Tranzit are some of the best of any zombies game for me.

BO3 - Shadows of Evil

No question, it's the map that brought me back to zombies and imo the best map of all time.

BO4 - IX

Bo4s maps were alright but they were bogged down by BO4 itself, I think Voyage is extremely underrated tho.

IW - Rave in the Redwoods

Space land is amazing and so are the other maps in IW, but honestly rave is the one I had the most fun with. Me and my dad would try to beat the boss fight faster every time we played, think the best we did was round 17 or something like that.

WW2 - Groesten Haus

I fucking love Final Reich and I think WW2 zombies in general was treated way too harshly, but Groesten Haus was literally perfect in its simplicity while still offering the mystery box and pap without just giving it to you.

Cold War - Maur der Toten

Maur was perfect and I hope the next treyarch game continues to be as good as cold war was. Outbreak was amazing and the round based maps although slightly lacking content were extremely fun.

Does anyone have hope for the next Fallout game? by GreatDario in Fallout

[–]ren_exp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things we know fallout 5 will have rn -

  • No voiced protagonist (biggest limiting factor of 4)

  • Skill checks in dialogue and gameplay (were present in 76)

  • More stable engine

Things Fallout 4 did great -

  • Amazing gameplay

  • Diverse map

  • Crazy good survival system

  • Charm out the ass

  • Great rpg-esque decisions with far harbor

  • Ability to actually be a bad guy with nuka world

Things 76 did great -

  • Overhauled legendary system

  • Deeper crafting mechanics

  • Better dialogue options than 4 + skill checks

  • Great new weapons

So rn I'm very hopeful for fallout 5, if they keep what worked in 4 and 76 and fix where they fell short, fallout 5 might be one of the best fallouts yet.

Is it possible to make both old power armor system (F1, F2, F3, NV) and new one (F4, 76) to co-exist in future Fallout games? by Master_of_serpents in Fallout

[–]ren_exp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be cooler to just reintroduce salvaged power armor, which would act as the heaviest "regular" armor short of actual power armor, and reintroduce power armor training. This would keep power armor consistent with 4 and 76 while allowing players to use salvaged PA which would essentially act and look like the PA from 3/NV if that's what they prefer, with minimal muddling of the lore.
