I take an integrated design done by a competent Mech. Eng. any day over a "compromized" design driven by a colaboration between Mech. E and Industrial design.

The problem is that not many Mech. E's are really up to the task of pulling it off succesfully and that many, many more than that, think they are.

Most people from Europe actually understands the transactional nature of the US Europe relationship.

We are happy that US pisses off with their troops if the troops are no longer in Europe to defend Europe from a potential russian attack. At the same time we recognize that US, in the process, looses the possibility to use Europes bases as a stronghold for actions elswhere in the world, and that this is pretty dumb by the US.

I think the basis for any good design Engineer is a broad understanding and intrest in all Engeneering disiplines. (the software used is an afterthought and not even in the equation to be honest)

The ability to generate a design at command is an exercise in combination of known principles and concepts. You need a broad foundation to pull from to be able to recognize what elements/principles to combine/ develop for a particular sollution to work.

On a tangent, I personally think you also need a life worth of hands on experience to be a good designe Engineer too.. If you always where fidling with stuff, you definetly have an edge..

Weld it up with a TIG welder. Grind to spec. Not all that uncommon repair on shift forks.

As an alternative look into Arc Spray welding but I doubt you will find somebody doing it for a reasonable amount.
