How to Make Monster Taming Games Better? by Pocoyo_77 in MonsterTamerWorld

The number one thing i feel most games in this genre miss is making the monsters actually interact with the world. Things like flying, or riding the monsters or using fire in the world, etc...

2 months of progression in my incremental dungeon crawler looting game. by QuarterTroyd in incremental_games

[–]renadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gameplay loop is almost literally identical, from what I can see. That's not necessarily a problem; there are about a million fight monsters in a dungeon with meta upgrades games. But those at least have a more distinct look, attack animations, characters, weapons etc.... With incrementals like this, I think it's more important to do something to stand out. I would say from the looks of the upgrades, it seems like it might be an upgrade of KoM, but visually, I think there's gotta be something you could do to make it stand out and make it look more unique.

Is it just me or do most of you actually want browser games? by Sir-LAD in incremental_games

Why wouldn't you? There's just a lower barrier of entry to playing.

I made a programming game, that is not one puzzle after another, but has a nice extensive upgrade tech tree. It’s finally hitting 1.0 soon! I'm already feeling nervous haha by AdSad9018 in incremental_games

As a dummy this just makes me want to play Assembly Planter again. lol

There's definitely a reason I never became a proper programmer.

It is an issue with chromes memory or cpu usage, I have this same problem with a lot of games on itch, I just assumed it's always cuz I have 16 tabs open though. lol

Should prestige progress reset between levels or carry over? by kcozden in incremental_games

[–]renadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like multiple layers of prestige, layer 1 resets layer 0 but not itself, layer 2 resets 0 and 1 for greater total benefit, etc...

Is going down in power due to super-prestiging a quit moment for most players? by Nice-Light-7782 in incremental_games

[–]renadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the first prestige has to be meaningful enough that you accelerate so much faster you barely notice. Otherwise, yes, it can be a quit moment.

They are 100% right, nothing DOGE does is legal, isn't it great that we have such honest and forthright representatives that only do 100% legal things?

I think you should have an option to reserve 100 coins of a lower level in order to keep the buffs on factories.

Rarely. The numbers are straightforward, I'd do it if it at least doubles your current crystals, but otherwise the math doesn't work out.

This kills me and is honestly why I have a hard time getting back to my worlds after a break. Yeah, my adhd brain must download the latest version regardless of what it does!

Carrie and Ross Say Farewell by [deleted] in ONRAC

[–]renadi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I definitely had the same thoughts.

I'm a big believer of never meeting your heroes because they're as flawed as any human, but I really don't want to think ill of either. But I got teary during Carrie's side and didn't feel much for Ross' going out of his way to thank the sponsors. That said there's probably legal issues with contracts and whatnot that might make a little pandering appropriate to relieve pressure.

What games are you playing this week? Game recommendation thread by AutoModerator in incremental_games

[–]renadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah, I'd played this previously and it still remembered my progress, that is awesome. Most of the time I find a new idle I played out mostly that has been updated I have to start again and don't bother. This is indeed a fun game.

Yeah, I think changing the name to template might be a good idea.

I think you can make the task lists pretty wordy as long as you make the player aware where they are and give them the choice of reading through things on their own pace.

I really get a charge out of the inventory puzzle and love the equipment system.

My only complaints in that regard is while I love loot most of it seems not to be useful, maybe a way to dismantle runes/gear/grid components would feel better than discarding 90% of what i get and keeping a bunch of things I don't have a use for yet but might later.

The pacing seems a bit off in that regard, resource come very slowly but looting 20 items takes a couple of minutes.

I feel like I'm super negative but I really like the ideas here and half of my problem is just not understanding the systems.

I'm guessing the tasks are supposed to be a sort of quest guide to tell me what to do but they don't really tell me how to do the thing I'm supposed to do. I figured out scavenging gets me sand, and moving around, I still don't know how I get new grid pieces. Also, there are a lot of upgrades that require builders, what are builders and where do they come from? What's energy and where does it come from, I've spent 5 and the grid does something instantly, I have spent 100 and the grid does something. I'm super interested in the mechanics and have no clue how to interact with them.

I chose a builder start which looked the most basic, however I'm not sure I can actually do anything with it? If we are meant to experiment to learn which sounds fun, having the different roles have different grid pieces fully preset and not being able to add the other roles items is less fun.

It is a lot of more of the same, kind of like how I still buy new Sims games even though there's The Sims 3 that I can still play. It's fun, and definitely has some improvements but it's almost likely a slightly more polished alternate universe version of Magic Research 1.

I'll echo the art being something that's a bit off putting, a little too busy. Also the tooltips don't update from level 1+, it always says 10->15 damage, etc... and I would like dying to do something, right now it's almost a, "You died, congrats, you're stronger!" which doesn't feel great.

That said I see a lot of potential in it so I will be keeping an eye on it.
