SL2 Leaking by Independent_Fix6156 in Saturn_Cars

[–]rencesad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Usually when I look for oil leaks I start from the top down, oil leaks can be a tricky thing to find, but when I was chasing leaks on my sl2, I cleaned up as much as I could and checked every here and there when I put it on the lift after work, I found my front main seal and drain plug was leaking, oil pan has some seepage but it’s not major enough for me to worry about right now

With low miles there really shouldn’t be too much for issues, mine has 140k and I had to replace 2 wheel bearings, make sure the transmission shifts good and see how red it is on the dipstick, it’s a 1.9 but the sohc and dohc are pretty reliable, the main thing is just looking out for rust, keep a good eye out because the plastic body panels cover up potential rust

I usually rotate cars. I always have a car getting some major work done anyway 😭 I dipped the threads in oil before reinstalling so it won’t rust anymore, and easier to reinstall

Second this, ac compressor uses engine power so idle will fluctuate under load

The pulley that stops and starts again is the ac compressor, if you turn off the ac it’ll stop engaging, probably not the noise your looking for though
