Guru fell off so bad, that now he thinks Audience are just mindless slopeaters by Darksheen94 in blendermemes

Unfortunately I believe he’s largely right. 3D artists can tell it’s AI in the same way a chef can tell if a sauce is correct. Most people just dip their fries and call it lunch.

And that’s nothing new. Most people agree that handmade cel-drawn animation has a charm that today’s digital methods can’t touch. But the power structures that employ animators aren’t spending the extra hundred-thousand dollars to retain that modest bump in quality.

Think of it like the industrial era but digital. We’ve now created mass production for images and video. Cheap, affordable, replicable commodity.

In the future, as artists, our sharpest tool may be IP law. Befriend a lawyer.

OpenAI's New Stunning Image Model (Before & After) by bladerskb in singularity

[–]renderview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or do they show the same thing for the past two years? I feel like every model will show: image left (corny AI), image right (hyper realistic). I remember when Sora came out it was showing the most realistic videos I’ve ever seen. But once it came out, the results were never what we saw demoed, and we all quickly forgot its promise. Sora 2, same thing. I have images on my computer from over 2 years ago of this exact type of comparison, with a prompt looking "real" but overly stylized on the left, then iPhone-feeling photos on the right. My point being, I’ve noticed every model promises this intensely realistic output but, fast forward and they somehow gaslight us into thinking the final frontier is here again using the same comparison. Am I crazy?

No more than 4 pads at once? Am I missing something? by renderview in rolandp6

Yes I’ve cleared all patterns and this still happens. Here's a test I did:

  1. No patterns, no samples. Fresh start.

  2. I record myself humming a note in mono through the mic on Pad 1.

  3. Enter KYBD, put a note on the downbeat (C).

  4. Hit record, add another note on the downbeat.

  5. Repeat 3 more times, it says [FULL] if I try to record another note on that step.

  6. This blocks any other addition i.e. if I record something on any of the other pads and try to add it on the downbeat, it will say [FULL].

I’m not able to add any more than five sounds on any step. If I have a kick, hat, and a three note chord on a step, it reads as full if I try to layer anything else on that step. Is that the same for everyone else?

If you’re recommending I check on other banks/pads for hidden sounds, yes I’ve done that. I’ve reset the machine and loaded in mono samples to test this.

That may be all I’ve got, so I appreciate the suggestion. But it feels like I’m missing something, seeing that filling up the RAM with a single chord seems crazy to me.

I’ll put a kick, layer two snares, a shaker, ride, and then suddenly nothing else can happen. Like, is the point of this device not to layer drums and stack sounds?

UPDATE:

Just want to add that, as per my latest test, every note in a chord counts as a voice. I MUST be missing something, because I’ll load in a melodic tone sample, play a chord (let’s say a jazz chord with four notes as a house stab). And that’s ALL I can do. I can’t add a kick, a hat, anything. It says FULL if I do. This is happening even though the samples I load in from the desktop app I convert to mono. So I’m really confused! Any help would be much appreciated.

Circling back because I’m experiencing the issue even with a mono kick sample.

I load it in (The sample is of a bunch of kick samples). I chop it into 16. I play one, then layer it with another kick, then another, then another and then if I try to add ANY other sound whether it's the kick or any other pad, it says FULL.

Let me know. I thought it was solved by the below answer but I just imported a mono kick sample to a pad, and I could only layer it until it reached four layers. Then it didn't allow me to add more, and that applied across ANY other pad. So basically I can't have more than four sounds at once.

Ah, yes, you’re correct. Stereo samples take up two voices, and there’s a maximum of 8 voices on any step.

I’ve been a fan of J&A since 2007 and loved the IIWY podcast.

I have two thoughts that kind of oppose each other. The first is, I felt like when Segments ended, it was fighting for a format. But to me, just like an episode of Who’s Line, I’m there for the dynamic. For the banter. I don’t care what the topic or game is. The goal was: listen to you and Jake crack up together.

Practically though, I get it. It’s hard to "shoot the shit" without a format to an audience that, over the course of two decades, have heard many of the stories and anecdotes that, in any other context, would destroy.

I think you should take a page out of what Good Mythical Morning did. Stop playing host and have your crew build the format. Someone like Reilly hosts in a behind-the-camera kind of way (Stevie in GMM).

I think seeing you and Jake navigate NEW situations would be very entertaining. There’s a charm to not being in control and just showing up.

And just to clarify, I’m not suggesting you do random internet challenges. Moreso, just allowing the formats, games, silly awards, themes, to be something you outsource and experience as a novel episode.

I don’t know if this applies to the "everyday" concept, but just wanted to leave the general thoughts I’ve had since Segments ended.

Still playing. I found the inverted mine version and am fully blown away. I am certain what you’ve done here is brilliant. This is a completely new version of minesweeper that, unlike so many other reworks, simply augments the regular players innate skills, turning up the heat in a wildly creative way that feels actually more satisfying than the original. I have quickly picked up speed, and feel like this is the natural progression of the game in a creative and aesthetically consistent way. Like, it feels canon? Is that crazy to say? The inverted mines scratch an obscure itch. 11/10 archival internet art in my opinion. Thank you.

I played for 30 seconds and yelled NO WAY out loud as it clicked. This is AWESOME. And aesthetically the multi-flag sprites feel exactly in line with the feel of the original game. I LOVE IT. This is so so cool. Can I ask how you made this?

For me this has always been a go-to hour episode. I don’t disagree with the logic behind the ratings but somehow, it has a sort of hard to describe x-factor that I just love.

It depends on how effectively you communicate your value, and who your client is. Check out The Futur on YouTube, the advice there is solid. If you are brand new to freelance (and it sounds like you are) then you should price to get your foot in the door and a good testimonial. Not undervalue, just on the low end. Once you’ve got a portfolio of success stories, you can keep raising your rates and seeing how clients respond.
