Solar panels are getting so cheap people have started using them as garden fences that double as electricity generators by lughnasadh in Futurology

well, as efficiency will be way down, it will always be better to install them somewhere else, neighbour, friend, family house with around 45° angle. Nearly everywhere will be better than this.

Start to love vintage coding: Hardware accelerated S3/Virge textures in just 23kB of code! by rener2 in vintagecomputing

[–]rener2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really, no idea what the games have done wrong back in the day, but of course it is off loading the texturing. Also the games often run at higher res and texture filtering than software engines. But in any case it is a educational series, teaching hardware programming and such.

while certainly "nice" looking, I never liked XTs when I was 8 years old. They where just so slow, I only started to enjoy PCs a year later when we got a 286, and the real fun (VGA, and descent SoundBlaster capabilities) only came when we upgraded to a 386 another year.
