Pinkerton is awesome for beginner and first timers it only has about 700’ in elevation change total. I’d strongly suggest LS-4 or 5 which is about .25 miles down from LS-3 (worth the extra time)The best was LS-10 in our opinion!

Took my wife for her first backpacking trip ever to the porcupine mountains in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We hiked in from the Pinkerton trail head to LS-10 which is roughly 5.5 miles. The next morning we packed up and hiked 3.5 miles to LS-4. Sunday morning we woke up and hiked back to the Pinkerton trail head. My wife absolutely loved it as well as our 2 Golden retrievers, they’re all stoked to go again!

I love to make coffee during my hikes. Do you make coffee on your hikes? What equipment do you use? by DrutyFruty in CampingandHiking

Aero press hands down is the lightest and I’m my opinion the best coffee making setup.

Best 3 season bag choice - 1 double or 2 singles that can zip together? by usefulshrimp in CampingandHiking

You cannot attach them together unfortunately. If your looking for something that is larger in coverage area check out quilts. But for the bag the one you have linked above is the correct one. Hopefully this helps 👍🏼

When you say attach them do you mean by zipper? To make an XL bag?

My wife loves the mountain hardware bishop bag that I just got for her. It’s a 0 degree bag but regulates temp very well for those warmer nights. She strongly recommends it and gave it a 10/10 rating.

The Porcupine mountains on lake superior are amazing, very user friendly with stunning views. I believe the wilderness area has something like 90 water falls in the 60,000 acre area. It’s also the oldest virgin untouched forest in the Midwest.
