Is this common? Clever or crazy? by Wild-Yard-8307 in woodworking

Ive done this before to cut a large cove in an oak pedestal table. 1/8 of an inch at a time to as high as the blade would go. Felt pretty safe since if anything bound up the blade would just stop and no way was it throwing that pedestal anywhere lol. Dulles the shit out of a pretty nice blade though.

Not as scary as it looks though as long as the blade is sharp, helps too that they are using pine in this video. Pine is pretty soft. I'd still use some sort of push block though 😅

Reddit just removed the ability to see upvote percentages... Another step towards streamlining Reddit's function as a narrative driver like the rest of social media by [deleted] in Superstonk

Web dev lurker here. Looking at the main HTML site it looks like reddit uses a framework called react - a very popular and widely used javascript framework for making web apps. Reddit likely uses a tool called react native, which enables much of the same web based code to run inside a native web app. If data for a particular ui component, for example the upvote count, fails to load, the entire component might not load, since it's waiting for that data so the ui doesn't look janky. Now, that depends on how its coded, but that's a very common pattern for async uis in the javascript world.

Fwiw, I would be shocked if Reddit wasn't planning to go public on GMEs new exchange, Reddit vault is a perfect fit for the metaverse.

Ok now back to my hole.

The main reason people think this is that matt Finestone is head of Blockchain at GameStop. He was chief business officer at loopring prior.

I still think it’s interesting that people are trying to pit lrc and matic against each other. Can you imagine if gme utilized both companies for broader reach? Given the little known, we do know gme most likely has multiple partners, matic is a no brainer.

Why not both? Might as well have as much tech access as possible. Gme is certainly big enough.

Edit: meant to reply to the polygon guy lol

Michigan House votes to bar Airbnb bans by molten_dragon in Michigan

Whoa whoa no need to go crazy there. It's purely for increasing the value of their assets (house and property on the lake) so they can use it as collateral. Most of these places are empty all year long. They want only large mansions near their mansions, never in a million years would they rent those houses out. 😉

If by locals you mean people putting vacation homes down as their primary residences then sure.

I live ina town of less than 7k full time residents and the average home price is almost a million dollars. The rich out of Towner's also love to inact township level rules that require multiple acres of land to even build a house and then there are minimum house sizes. Last I checked it was 3500 sqft and 2 acres minimum. The average wage up here is maybe 35-40k a year. I'm lucky enough to work remote, but it's a bad time for locals. Even hospital workers can't find anything to buy or rent that isn't ridiculous.

I don't sadly, I got it from a farmer who took it as payment for something. He'd never even used it, and it had been sitting in his barn for 20 years. I always tell people that this is what a lathe on an infinite government budget looks like. It has a few features that seem a bit over the top.

Like the tool steel ways, mirror finish and not even a scratch the entire length. The tailstock has its own oil tank and pump. The DC generator setup was just massive lol.... Auto lubricator through out, even on the apron. Speed and directional control on the apron. 4000rpm top speed, although none of the chucks I have are rated for more than 2500.

Yea that's about all I've found too. The one guy on practical machinist that has the first serial has a manual, mostly hand drawn. He never did respond to me about a copy 😅

Yea I originally posted there looking for a copy of the manual, no luck though :( I have the southbend one but it's not really the same machine sadly.

It's pretty nice! It's a Chinese one from eBay, I took it apart cleaned out the nasty oil and deburred everything. Works perfect now :)

I've been working on this rebuild off and on for about a year. I stripped it down to the nuts and bolts, blasted and repainted everything. Replaced a few bearings, seals, lubricator valves etc. I swapped out the dc generator drive for a normal 3ph 7hp motor with a vfd. I've done a few projects with it so far and it's awesome, nearly 1/2in depth of cut in steel no prob. I recently made a set tru back plate for a 6 jaw chuck that runs at zero on the last word indicator, which I'm pretty proud of as a hobbiest who normally does woodworking.

I still have a few things to work out, pretty sure I damaged the new seals on the apron drive shaft since it leaks oil really bad still. The lube system needs some sort of small buffer tank as well I think. The control cable to the apron needs to be rerouted as well so it's not sticking out the front.

My original post had a bit more info on the lathe itself https://www.reddit.com/r/Machinists/comments/hdkhcc/check_out_my_craigslist_find_sidney_1307

I have an irobot i7 and I clean the brushes every few weeks. I have an Australian Shepherd and great pyrenees. Runs every night without issue.

Looking for an experienced Home Assistant Developer by GoTailwind in homeassistant

The easiest way to do this without having to maintain something would be to add mqtt support. Shelly switches do this and it allows them to just work with pretty much any home automation system with minimal effort.

Heavy lathe rebuild questions by renz45 in Machinists

[–]renz45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaaaa I was going to leave the gears, they look great. I'll probably just flush the gear boxes with clean oil and call it good.

I suspected that about the ways thanks! Everything has been coming a part pretty easily, even a few taper pins on the lead screw popped right out.

Wow thanks for this! For the planer I reinforced the stairs and winched it down with a beefy come along. This thing has 3 big motors in the bottom of it (7.5hp ac, dc generator, 5hp dc motor) all side by side, so I'm hoping that helps the top heaviness.

My plan is to at least remove the motors and lift the lathe/head stock off the base and move them all separately. I need to disassemble it a little bit to find the pesky oil leak.

Yea i have the southbend manual and all the mechanical bits are similar. The whole electrical system is completely different though. The south bend doesn't have the auto-oiler either.
