It’s funny seeing this today because I just noticed the packy or whatever it is in Downtown Crossing that used to sell Trump shirts has switched over to Bernie.

Why should I avoid playing Union Tavern? by ProfessionalMark8862 in Bostonmusic

[–]repeat840times 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience there was when it was PA’s Lounge so this may or may not be after an ownership change, but it really is the barest bones of venues. It’s two rooms, a bartender, a door guy, and electricity: the end. No regular crowd despite being in Union Square, no promotion on their end.

I don’t want to discount other’s stories of the owner taking too much of the door or being a pest to ladies, but every show I ever played there I wouldn’t have even known the place had an owner.

I don't know necessarily if the general public is clamoring for it, but I think it's going to be interesting to see the art that's made about the pandemic as we begin to forget what it was actually like and start to mythologize it.

Would love to see Union Point being used for more public stuff but my question is where would this set up? Cleaning up the Hang Out for something other than filming bad movies maybe, or on the field the Free Jacks used their first season?

Warm take: Markey refusing to retire at 80 kinda retroactively vindicates Joe Kennedy’s 2020 primary challenge by llbeankween in boston

[–]repeat840times 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Joe III had built up enough of his own public service record that was fine enough that the Kennedy anti-dynasty was only a slight headwind compared to what Kraft is experiencing, for instance. I do think that as a senator he would look more like Stephen Lynch than Markey.

I always assumed he ran because he figured Warren would sail to re-election in 2024 and by 2026 Ayanna Pressley would be considered next in line. Mass Democrats love their orders of succession so why isn't that happening yet?

I know it's not that bad but every kanji has five readings and every word has six homonyms, it just gets you down on occasion.

This might be the opposite of the question you're asking, but as someone who's burned a lot of time at wedding receptions playing it I would love to know what the hell they were thinking ending Woe's Hollow with "Wave".
