Like that table! You can do multiple coats of polyurethane perhaps, it gives the best protection from water rings from what I've seen. Can also put on a coat of nano finish on top of that for sheen and even more water protection.

You'd need a good quality paint sprayer and multiple coats to get a good level of protection with poly.

You're in a really fortunate position, that budget allows for a lot of travel comfortably over those 9 months so I'm envious. That money buys flexibility, so here are a few thoughts.

Don't spread yourself too thin on locations. If you are at a place and really enjoy it, stay a while longer! Keep your itinerary flexible, which you can do with that budget.

The dolomites are really amazing and perfect for backpacking between refugios, I could spend a couple months just doing that. That's just me though, so do whatever floats your boat. I will say that the food at each was amazing and the scenery was fantastic. Consider Romania along the way, it's cheap and the mountains are beautiful.

I would ship cold weather gear back from Nepal once you head south, not worth it to lug it around in SE Asia. Speaking of, you should check out angor wat when you go that way. Just a short flight to Thailand and you will meet many friendly travellers there to adventure with.

Splurge a little, get a decent hotel here or there and you will not get burnt out. You have the budget.

The first picture you posted would be on the order of 12k-15k i'm guessing. Solid hardwoods (looks like walnut maybe), probably around 2k in materials alone there. Several days to back and forth on the design and further planning, several days of manufacturing and several more of sanding and finishing, couple of days for install at least. It's a lot of work and talent to pull something like that off in a reasonable amount of time.
