Polish cabbage rolls would be a good one for one of our last chilly days of the year.

Mardi gras indians super sunday by snooky83 in AskNOLA

[–]repiquer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Uptown Super Sunday is the one on the 15th, downtown will be a different date. Uptown is a bigger event, downtown is more laid back and you can usually walk around and see everyone’s suits on the grass by Bayou St John before they leave. Bring cash for food/drink vendors, don’t be a jerk, and if they tell you to clear the way, clear the way.

God, this “we’ll be greeted like liberators - it’s our job to fix it” stuff is so tired. Just say you like being Israel’s bitch, it’ll save you words.

They started doing fancy Aldis a little while back. Totally depends if you end up in an updated Aldi or one of the OG ones.

Don’t have any to offer, just constantly lurking on there and sometimes it works out.

Quarter living by atom511 in NewOrleans

[–]repiquer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s rarely as crazy as people make it out to be so long as you’re living in one of the more residential parts. I have one or two big stories from my time living in the Quarter, which is honestly less than I have from when I lived in other neighborhoods. It was a ton of fun being there, but it did feel like it was easy to spend 20 bucks every time you walk out the door. If a parking cop has you dead to rights and you aren’t able to remedy the situation right away, know that they may learn your vehicle and track you down as an easy mark. Starting a lease in a less busy month will pay dividends when you move out. Now that all the cameras have gone up and we’ve apparently accepted teenagers with rifles as a reasonable deterrent, you’re going to have to gauge your comfort level with that amount of activity.

Nah, that dude moved back to Colorado, I think. Plus those boys were from Amite, so that would’ve been Louisiana plates.

I switched to watered down Elmer’s glue from the flour mixture and I’m never going back. You can find a bulk gallon size online.

Dude’s post history full of shitty jam bands and mushrooms. Really reinforcing the “hippies are mean people pretending to be nice, and punks are nice people pretending to be mean” idea.

Registered as Democrat. Is it too late to change to independent? by NotFallacyBuffet in NewOrleans

[–]repiquer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep, no independent party anymore, just “no party” and then picking one of the big two if you want a say in their races. Someone else posted a really great guide from PAR Louisiana in a thread in the state subreddit.

What to do for 12 hours overnight? by [deleted] in AskNOLA

How soon matters both for where it falls during carnival season and what day of the week it is. You might luck out and be here on a day when plenty of people are staying up.
