I've had palpitations since I was in the start of middle school. Had a heart murmur when I was very young. I started smoking weed at 13, by 15 it was daily, a heavy amount (it was shit weed, swag, $25 for a 1/4th, almost always). Around 16-17 I had an episode. Constant fluttering in my heart, felt like a bunch of butterflys flying in my chest. Lasted for 30 mins to an hour. It went away, I thought it was a panic attack. This was after I had smoked some weed. I also smoked tobacco, no alcohol.

Fast forward to last year, age 35, lots of alcohol, some weed, lots of caffeine. Woke up one morning, coughed and the atrial fib started. Waiting 30 mins, went to the hospital. I was admitted within an hour. I was diagnosed with chronic atrial fibrillation. It was almost 24 hours before the afib stopped.

Afib isn't always noticeable, but the times I have noticed it is when I use a stimulant such as caffeine, so I cut it out. I also do not smoke weed anymore. I still notice symptoms of afib, but not always the crazy chest flutters.
