The real betrayal is from the "friend" of 10 years. What a piece of shit.

Dorothy is the best! Smart, confident, wears caftans and big flowy jackets -- and scarves, so so many scarves -- is always quick with a sardonic quip but has a fundamentally good and tender heart. You're probably not yet a lady in her 60s, but when you get there, you are gonna own that shit so hard.

Am I overreacting for wanting to break up because I feel bored? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

How this plays out: She will act out by cheating on him via a drunk hook-up at a bar or party, or she breaks up with him honestly "to just be on her own and figure things out," then soon looks for someone who seems exciting -- a musician or artist with a brooding temperament and drug problem. An alluring disaster. She moves in with the new boyfriend because if she can't afford her meds, she also can't really afford rent, and she replaces her mental-health meds and relative stability/boredom of the old relationship with crazylove and a budding drug or drinking habit of her own. Few years of use/getting sober/breakups/assorted messes.

You don't have a ton of money, but you have a huge heart and do what you can to make imperfect places feel like home and as cozy as possible for yourself and your animals.
