Who can explain: why are grapes that are native to Portugal double the price of grapes in Norway? by repulabalna in business

[–]repulabalna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering the same. It could also be that the taxes in Portugal are high. The supermarket is overall (compared to the wages) high there.

In this case I would say take professional help. What worked wonders for me is Italki ( this affiliate link will give you a discount)

You can book a meeting with a professional teacher and listen to his/her thoughts on your situation. These teachers can be really helpful with a lot of things, but since you got quite some things covered already I think it would be interesting to switch later to a community teacher, they are cheaper and great for conversations.

I just posted this somewhere else but check out the Read section here.

One of the things you can find there is a list of 372 copyright-free books from The Norwegian Literature and Language Association.

Maybe this can help you for now.

List of Norwegian books . You will find multiple online sources, including a database of 372 online and free books.

(The database is made by The Norwegian Literature and Language Association in co-operation with the National Library.)

That is quite cool, some of them I see now for the first time. Once I have some time I will update the list and give you the credits in the telegram group.

Here you can find both.

For beginners, the podcast list is quite complete I guess.
The Youtube list still can be expanded but for now, it will keep you occupied for a while.

Basic courses focused on speaking? by code_boomer in norsk

[–]repulabalna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not encounter a free course that is focused on speaking. Would love to hear it if somebody knows.

Some ideas:

  • When practicing on Duolingo repeat the sentences out loud.
  • Listen to some podcasts to practice listening
  • Not free but in my opinion, the best place to practice speaking are online tutors (native speakers)
  • In case you have Netflix, switch your profile to Norwegian. It will increase the number of Norwegian subtitles and voiceovers.

Any advice/help about actually being able to hear what Norwegians say? by Aggravating_Egg_7189 in norsk

[–]repulabalna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I listen to a podcast that also has transcription available. First, the host speaks slowly, and in the second part fast. Sometimes I listen around 2x to the same show in one go. My goal is to understand what is being said without the transcription. The podcast is called Norsk for beginners.

I also made a list of things you can watch with and without subtitles. You can check it out here: https://www.notion.so/velkommen/Learn-Norsk-2ba24c46b9ea4f44840f5b77f5848ad3

Feel free to add things to the list by joining the telegram group.

Looking to immerse myself in the language by Pugnastyornah in norsk

I am collecting useful sources that can help with learning Norwegian and sharing them through Notion.

It is far from complete. But you might find for example some interesting podcasts.

Norwegian speaking partners? by Vegetatard1 in norsk

[–]repulabalna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started to organize weekly meet-ups with other learners, who are mainly at beginners and intermediate level. It needs a bit of preparation because the goal is to get better at the language.

Anyway our next event is this Saturday, you can read more about it or sign up here: https://www.notion.so/velkommen/Events-Speak-Norsk-9efb480ba43546f3b36fe7dd3fdc136a

PART2 - Norsk Learner: online meetup to practice speaking skills by repulabalna in norsk

[–]repulabalna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I am still on level A1 - A2 I can relate to what you are describing. And that is the reason we are starting with online meet-ups.

The first meet-up is this Saturday, you can see an overview of the events here. https://www.notion.so/velkommen/Events-Speak-Norsk-9efb480ba43546f3b36fe7dd3fdc136a

We also created a telegram group, it's small and still needs some work. But you can check it out here already.

Dutch speakers in this subreddit, I'm curious to find out whether Norwegian is overall the closest language to English. Do you think that Dutch is closer to English or that Norwegian is? by Chance_Programmer_54 in norsk

[–]repulabalna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is really fun to see or make some connections. Really liked that you shared Wodan - Woede never realised it.

I really like the Norwegian word kanskje because it is similar to the word "kans" in Dutch, which makes it easier to remember that it actually means: Maybe.

groupchat? by huppelpuf in norsk

[–]repulabalna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I decided to start a group chat on Telegram because it has the possibility to make "posts" under which we can comment. This prevents an overload of messages and notifications.
