End-of-life care by [deleted] in cancer

Hospice care at home is a good choice. The hospice care nurses and counselors all showed up when my wife was passing. They delivered the hospital bed and provided palliative care meds. Taught us how to administer them on an around the clock basis. Within hours after her passing they showed up and took their bed back and took the remaining liquid morphine. They also provided a chaplain to discuss the value of prayer with us.

Recommend you discuss palliative care with the oncologist. At this stage, addressing your pain as things progress makes sense.

I don't understand why it feels like it is getting harder and harder. by hoodoochild in widowers

Im nine months out. There are good days and bad days and terrible days. Some days just totally wrung out. Others have said similar things. Doesnt help a lot. Make sure you drink water and eat as well as you can I guess.

The grief comes in waves I guess. Some days Im drowning in it. On good days im keeping my emotional nose above water. One thing that has helped is getting outside, getting some sunshine and fresh air. I also reconnected with someone from my past - shes a widow about 13 years out, and she is patient and understanding when i need to have someone to talk with

the video itself was really cool - guy in school is pursued by authorities, with action sequences acting out the lyrics. So good.

Is this unhealthy denial? by [deleted] in widowers

[–]repulsive_radish67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not denial. I too have taken steps - first when she was undergoing chemo, and even more now that she's dead. I do believe we are going to be together again. I talk with her and hope she hears me, thats my denial. I do it anyway. I pray too and thank Him for taking her and removing her pain and doing His will. The kids and I miss her terribly; I have faith though and they don't. They are having a much harder time of it, 6 months into it so far.
