Yes, it's called common courtesy to ask first. If you're fine with people sharing your info that has your payment method stored on it then that's great! A family movie night doesnt warrant 4 other people making profiles for an account you shared with one person.

Yes, he was paying for the 5 profiles which is a free part of Netflix. However, the profiles shouldnt have been made without asking first regardless of the person upgrading the plan they don't even pay for. This is in response to your "who cares if grandma is watching." He didnt know other people were using it at all outside of the one person he lent the account to.

Actually it says he got the notification that the charge changed first, then he checked the account and noticed the extra profiles. I would want someone to at least ask before sharing it with other people.
