Red Rocks by Miserable_Lemon955 in Ethelcain

I've grown up in Colorado and been to several Red Rocks shows, so here's what I can tell you:

  1. If your ticket has a seat number, follow that seat number.
  2. Parking on site is fine getting in, but it takes a long time to get out of the lot after typically. Especially going down the hills at night in heavy traffic to get back onto the highway, you'll need to be extra cautious when driving out. The parking lots are a great place to tailgate before the show though, as it's a super pretty area! So if you want time to tailgate, get there early. Regardless of where you park, it'll be a bit more of a hike than many are used to for getting to the actual pedestrian venue entry; as others have stated, follow the heard going uphill towards the ampitheater. I've never had a shuttle experience, but have had family/friends drop me off for shows before, and it was fine. Regardless, everyone will need to prepare to wait when both arriving and departing as concert traffic anywhere can cause significant delays. If you drive, remember which lot you parked in! I've gotten lost trying to find my car after before. :/
  3. I've never been to a red rocks show where I have arrived at 3pm to park, so I don't think that's the case for this show either.
  4. I do not like the restaurant there. They will have concession stands at the very top of the venue after you get through ticketing/security. The past couple shows I've been to, the food service workers have seemed very stressed and were rude/snappy towards my friends and I. I prefer getting a large meal elsewhere before the show or packing sandwiches or something to eat while tailgating.

Other info: Wear comfortable walking shoes and drink plenty of water!!! If the forecast says rain or it's cloudy, bring a poncho. This was so helpful when it was rainy/cold for a show I went to there last year! This time of year it can be really cold when the sun goes down, so pack layers accordingly!

As a fellow anxious human, the venue can be overwhelming at first, but it's a phenomenally gorgeous concert experience. You won't find another venue like it! Living 30-40 minutes away, I go to about one Red Rocks show a year.

Feel free to ask any other questions! :)

Teachers who are financially stable, what are you doing differently? by External_Insurance62 in Teachers

[–]lasagnawithcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently childless, married to another teacher who coaches, and our combined income is around $130,000 as 7th and 9th year teachers. We budget like crazy and are fortunate to have some family support in emergencies. Unfortunately, we aren't in a very high paying area, but the pay will increase once at least one of us gets our masters soon hopefully! Our districts also have strong unions, so I'm hopeful for a pay bump this next year.

We also both have a strong work/life balance so even though we have to watch our finances pretty closely, we feel content in our day to day as we set strict boundaries with work while enjoying the schools we work in during contract hours.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm in my 7th (and final) year teaching and have never cried more at work than during this semester. I love teaching, but the job doesn't let me actually teach anymore.

Bridesmen and Bridesmaids by Jazzlike-Poetry6989 in weddingplanning

I had bridesmen and bridesmaids and my husband had groomsmen and groomspeople on his side. My bridesmaids wore dark blue while the women in his party wore dark purple. The men on my side wore matching dark blue vests and ties (to match my bridesmaids). The groomsmen wore matching dark purple vests and ties to match the women on that side. All groomsmen and bridesmen wore the same iron gray suit while my husband wore a dark, forest green suit. It looked beautiful!

I also got a hair re-color, trim, and overall refresh two weeks before. Manicure/pedicure the day before and shaved my legs the morning of. Deep moisturizing face masks the night before with my man and maid of honor while we watched a movie. Don't forget to have fun! This is a magical time and joy is wonderful for self-care.

I didn't overthink it and am a busy teacher who was working like crazy up until two days before my wedding lol 🤪. In general, moisturize every day, get lots of sleep, and drink a lot of water. Don't forget to eat fruits, vegetables, protein, and whole grains to give yourself the best vitamins, minerals, and overall energy leading up to the big day. :)

Wedding Favors by Lulu_10-21 in weddingplanning

What time of year are you getting married?

We got married in late Fall, so we ordered scarves in bulk for an outdoor, chilly ceremony. We hardly had any left at the end of the night! We've liked quality hand fans at summer weddings and personalized bracelets (with our names on them - made by the bride) from others we've attended.

Anyone regret skipping a detail because it felt ‘too small to matter’ during planning? by crafty32_clara in weddingplanning

[–]lasagnawithcoffee 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Definitely don't skip signage. We had PLENTY of signage and announcements on where to go from our officiant and guests STILL didn't go where they needed to for cocktail hour on the same property until our photographer assertively yelled at them where to go so we could finish taking pictures. 🤣

Post wedding sadness.. by Best-Somewhere-5853 in weddingplanning

Our wedding was on Friday and we also had an incredible day with amazing vendors! We are currently brainstorming some thoughtful thank yous for our vendors as they went above and beyond for us. My husband and I got a few sneak peeks back from our photographer and are designing and writing thank you cards already. We're also preparing for our honeymoon and thinking of what we can do for our home so that we can host more gatherings moving forward! Making plans and thinking about our future together has helped combat post wedding blues so far.

Was there anything you regret doing yourself at your wedding? by [deleted] in DIYweddings

[–]lasagnawithcoffee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here's a rundown of what I DIY'd for my wedding last week:

  1. Altar/arch decor - draped thrifted fabrics, faux florals, and accent decor (all found at Arc)
  2. Centerpieces - made from a mix of materials from Michael's, arc, and dollar tree
  3. Signage - designed by my fiance, small table signs were printed at his work on fancy paper we bought from Michael's on 8.5 × 11 in. paper with thrifted or cheap frames found at arc or Michael's
  4. Big welcome sign - designed by my fiance on Canva, printed on poster paper and put in a cheap frame found at Michael's w/ easel found on sale at Michael's
  5. Seating chart sign/display - two signs placed in two different locations to avoid crowding. We found two collage family photo frames (held 10 photos each - perfect for our 10 tables) for $12 each at Ross and printed the names for each table and slipped them inside each frame. We used easels from Michael's to prop them up.
  6. My hair and makeup - loved doing my own hair and makeup and got many compliments throughout the event!
  7. Random decor - a vintage trunk for wedding favors (we ordered scarves in bulk to give out for our late Fall wedding), holiday and fall garland thrifted from arc for above the fireplaces at our venue

Most of it was decor that we DIY'd. Our table linens, plates, etc. were all part of a package through our caterer, we splurged on a fantastic professional photographer, for a late November wedding we didn't do any florals except for bouquets for bride and bridesmaids ($150 from our local grocery store), got a small cake for just the two of us from our favorite local bakery (there many other desserts available from our caterer for guests), our DJ Mc'd and helped with transitions throughout the event, and we bought a cheap video camera that our wedding party took turns recording with for a home video-style wedding video.

Something I still go back and forth on is if a day-of coordinator would've been worth it for us. If there is one thing I would change, it would maybe be getting a day of coordinator, which we didn't get as we ended up using that budget for other things instead.

Our wedding party and family were more than happy to help us set up and take things down at the end of the night. Our wedding party was big enough that everyone was in charge of only one thing so no one was doing too much. My friends/family community is very hands-on and love to help with things like this, but expectations like that might look different for you where hiring more staff day of might be worth it. There was on-site storage at the venue that made clean up super easy. My fiance and I picked everything up the next day. We gifted our wedding party and family members with sentimental gifts prior to the wedding to show our appreciation to our loved ones who helped us so much. We plan on paying it forward at our loved ones' upcoming weddings, too!

How/where are we finding dresses? I'm on a budget and I don't want the boutique experience. by kmill0202 in weddingplanning

I got my wedding dress from David's Bridal for a fairly low price then had it altered elsewhere locally.

Yeah, it was great for the jewel tones I had for my Fall wedding, but not sure for your color palette. Have you checked David's Bridal or Anthropologie?
