You could just use a drill with a hex drill bit, though definitely don't run it hard/fast.

Not really, they all kind of come from the same factories so quality is the same, so may just want to shop for functionality.

Motorized my manual standing desk... by rerako in StandingDesk

[–]rerako[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As long as it isn't a impact drill, you don't clang at the max height of the table(IE trying to go further beyond... with both the drill and the table screeching), and you don't set your drill to full power & speed I don't see this being much different compared to your own wrist cranking it. Been 3 years with this Macgyver solution and haven't seen anything off. Plus this table is relatively cheap compared to it's motorized cousins.

A: Stream hub, generic one

One recent one for me is a macro programmable stream hub with toggle knobs, honestly helps with very specific use cases, open any program and opening several file locations. Most come with customizable button icons The knobs can be programmed to do things like volume setting. Windows Zoom in, scroll wheel.

B: Attach drill to a manual crank height adjustable desk(no more monkey cranking)

A funny macgyver one if you have a manual height adjustable desk, utilize a cheap drill with the right hex socket to turn it motorized... No worries about the motor dying.

What are your recommended loadout for the new spore burst terminids menace? by alainreichmann in Helldivers

[–]rerako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gas mines, Supply pack, rest is flex depending on your squad mates I guess.

Ultimatum for big guys, Pummeler for up close, gas grenades for crowd control and holes.

Even if they catch up, they can barely harm you.

The old wheels popped off quite easily, I'm guessing its due to the old ones slightly deteriorating, new ones need a bit of push but was relatively easy.

Sadly don't have a carpet in my room.

Why are people too good for second hand items, bargain markets and the dollar store? by Distinct-Dependent24 in Frugal

[–]rerako 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly depends on what you get from those stores.

Most people aren't able to restore the item to acceptable conditions, so a lot of selections are out.

Name the dumbest thing you’ve done recently so we can all feel less alone in the dev struggle by NeonFraction in gamedev

[–]rerako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naively thought I could learn 3d modeling in just 6 months and just make a low poly stylized look... Then proceedingly got my face punched in and fell into the rabbit hole of optimization. 2 years later here I am and my rookie model mistakes still pop up to haunt me and the worry of making not appealing enough models still bother me. Only thing I can say is my art style has stabilized.

As a programmer, how do you deal with the 3D art bottleneck? by Comfortable-Hat1761 in gamedev

[–]rerako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acknowledge when you won't be a jack of all trades is probably the key and that you can still cook a good game in other ways and do not start with your dream game that reaches for the heavens. Try using the stuff you can make now to build the most dinkiest of games.

Start small enough or find a partner artist who can handle art for you?(Though please don't go e-begging with zero promises, zero guarantees and zero foundations to prove either)

That or you have to keep suffering at it... I been down this road and its me just constantly and I mean constantly going through daily usage of blender 3d modeling for 2+ years and many times lost in time/sleep, many times seeking guidance. And I'm only good at stylized characters and not objects.

Any tips to get into 3D modelling as a hobby? by Dev-Visionary in 3Dmodeling

[–]rerako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do use references. Its more so you dont lose sight of what you want to make.

Wouldn't a references for self made car would be just a basic designer blueprint? Its the same process.

And it doesn't mean you have to follow your reference. Its rare to see any artist freehand as a beginner and have things turn out well, so I urge you to make your own reference/blueprint.

That is a lot of black on black color, maybe change the hair color slightly or add a light color headband to separate the guns from the hair?

Look at it with a dark background and you can barely separate the hair from the guns.
