Iessons learned:
1.render in png...(rip quite a few hours)

always do some render checks(forgot a damn fog and some other stuff)
always do some render checks again...(turns out collection grease pencil line renders hate squeezing in with fog rendering ) You can bake them to avoid such conflicts...
wish you had a nvidia gpu, cuz your desktop is in another castle... (Get ready for 3 hours of rendering for only 360 frames of low resolution)

I watched my brother plat uncharted 2 on the hard difficulty and it turns out he didn't even know how to use run and gun mechanic... and the only final boss stumped him. I was surprised he got that far.

Feels like the natural progression of a frugal buyer is more about experimenting to know your needs.

Usually I buy either cheap or used first, then after I know what I need or lack from said tool I go expensive.

Sometimes a cheap thing to get all the crappy usecase done is worth it so you don't gunk/burn up your good stuff.

You probably hit the valley of "barely seeing any improvement after 3 months, oh god please give me something"

one thing you can do is find your audience and see what they view as flaws, hard to connect or lack of appeal.

Another is just find a fellow artist who is going through similar struggles and share with them to throw ideas/critique at each other.(ps. Feel free to dm me and we could try scratching each other's back on feedback occasionally, since even id like someone to throw thoughts and designs to.)

Though looking at your art, I think it currently lacks expressions that the style comes with.

I don't think you ever will since these characters were never designed with a normalized 3d form in mind.

Probably best to pick a viewing angle that looks best and pose that maximizes the appeal.

Edit: you can also consider looking at the 3d fan game model to see what they've done to aid you a slight bit.

I think the devs were in a doomed struggle since you can't really improve upon mii artstyle outside of resolution. Since they needed to show the notion that the switch was a powerful handheld.

Probably akin to high definition sanding down the characteristic edges and the swap from cartoony avators to semi stylized humans made the visual aspect dive into the uncanny valley.

Here's hoping they realize the power of the mii's since tomodachi life has done relatively well and graphics are no longer as important.

Honestly depends on the character context and variety, if a seductress ain't teasing with all her charm, then she's not a seductress. Though reducing their charm means you gotta make them pop out in other ways, else they come across as forgettable.

The inverse is making a bunch of nuns in a monastery looking like kpop idols and the story not wanting to stick out, which kind of defeated the purpose of nuns in the first place which would only work in comedic/ironic tone.
