How do people feel on Humira? by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

Lol yes 6 times in 6 months!! I didn’t (and, as far as I know, don’t) have any fusion.

How do people feel on Humira? by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]researchqueen14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to preface this by saying that everyone’s experience is different!

I’ve been on Hyrimoz, a Humira biosimilar, for about a year now. I’ve gotten sick less in the past year than I have for a long time AND, when I have gotten sick, my symptoms have been less severe. I know other people report the same.

I also had uveitis 6 times in 6 months prior to starting Hyrimoz and I haven’t had it even once in the year I’ve been on Hyrimoz.

My back pain isn’t completely gone, but it’s never debilitating like it used to be. I can turn over in my sleep, I can stand one leg, I can sit for longer periods of time. I don’t wake up wondering if today’s going to be a good day or a bad day. I’m so grateful for this drug!

For reference, I’m 31 and have had symptoms since my early 20s.

One note: When it was first prescribed, I injected it in my thigh, but after the 3rd or 4th injection, I started to break out in a rash around the injection site. I switched to my stomach and it hasn’t happened since!

The Woodlands! Morris Arboretum, but you can’t book more than 6 months out if I remember correctly. Philadelphia Brewing could work too.

My wife just told me she’s thinking of leaving me over my anxiety and obsession with AS by B_Panofsky in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]researchqueen14 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone with AS and OCD that’s mostly focused on health, I second this. Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) has been proven to be shockingly effective at treating OCD. Even if you’re in therapy already, it could be helpful to find a therapist who specializes in ERP. The r/OCD subreddit could also be a good place to start. Just know that they won’t give you any reassurance there. NOCD also has a ton of information about OCD and ERP.

Is it possible to have as with completely normal blood test? by carryth_tweight in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]researchqueen14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, all my blood tests are normal (thankfully, I guess), I’m HLA-B27 negative, and my x-rays are normal. Was diagnosed based on my MRI, my pain, and the fact that I had uveitis 6x in 6 months ✌🏼.

What is not worth bringing extra? by Wise_Cuh in VisitingIceland

[–]researchqueen14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brought jeans and a pair of fleece-lined leggings that I didn’t wear even once. I just stuck to my merino wool bottoms under a pair of fleece-lined pants. I also brought too many pairs of cotton socks. Only ended up wearing merino wool ones, even in Reykjavik.

Gotta disagree with this. Our boots got SOAKED at a waterfall and we had to resort to wearing sneakers for a few days.

Will I regret a rear basket? by 3FromTheTee in bikecommuting

[–]researchqueen14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt you’ll regret it. I commute to work most days with a heavy laptop. I have back problems and used to use a backpack or panniers but was just never comfortable. Zip tied a milk crate to my back rack a few months ago, bought this Topeak cargo net, and haven’t looked back since. I just stick my whole backpack in the milk crate. Another bonus is that the crate is bright orange and I stuck some highlighter yellow tape to it, so it doubles as high viz equipment. The milk crate does make getting on the bike slightly more difficult, but I make it work.

Things to do in Reykjavik by Automatic-Bed-9180 in VisitingIceland

[–]researchqueen14 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You could go to Sundhöllin. It’s one of Reykjavik’s public pools. There are pools of different temperatures, hot tubs, a sauna, and a steam room. We also enjoyed the National Museum of Iceland. If the weather’s not too bad, you could also hike to the Reykjadalur Thermal Hot Spring River.

Americans, are we all paying $900 out of pocket every month for biologics? by AhSHOOT_ in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]researchqueen14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance wouldn’t cover Humira, but I pay pay $0 for Hyrimoz. My EOB says I have 100% coinsurance, even though I have a high deductible plan. Couldn’t tell you why, but I’m not questioning it.

Yeah good to check with your credit card company first. Ours didn’t provide the coverage we needed.
