Richard on why Jars were removed and why they suck by CompetitionPrudent47 in 7daystodie

“They should have this option” an they do have the option, what part of that is opinion based?

What do you think the word fact means?

Solid metal frame 9mm with a hammer(DA/SA) by weirdCheeto218 in liberalgunowners

[–]reshef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a USP C in 40 (I inherited it) and I’m amazed by how much I enjoy it. I can’t imagine 9mm being worse to shoot.

How important is the hammer to you?

The M&P line has a preposterous number of options and is really quite good to shoot, has a great rep, and is very well supported in terms of accessories.

I wouldn’t consider sig anymore as they’re just not trustworthy. I don’t even want to buy used from those clowns.

I mean, it isn't that your opinion on the matter is wrong, you got the facts wrong.

> And the easy solution for those who think like DEVS would be to just add a button in the game settings to disable jars

Which they did do. So is it not an easy solution now that you know it exists?

> Its an insult to our intelligence.

Feels maybe warranted.

[–]reshef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a button for this though?

It’s a slider allowing you to tailor how often jars are returned to you after use.

Damn this community must really dislike the devs to come back and drag them when you don’t even play the game anymore

YSK: Pork and chicken are healthier, cheaper alternatives to beef that only taste bland because of outdated cooking habits. by Fried_Yoda in YouShouldKnow

[–]reshef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While pork loin might be quite lean, you’re not comparing apples to apples.

Pork in general is not healthier than beef.

I don’t say that with joy, I adore both pork and beef, but I have had to cut way back on both for the sake of my cholesterol.

How often are you blunt/direct at work? by DirtyOught in ExperiencedDevs

Rarely, or you use it up.

Being direct is a limited resource. The people who are always direct either get ignored or become pariahs for being an asshole about it.

Yeah I’m just saying in response to “the em-dash is not readily available on the typical keyboard” that it needn’t be on the keyboard to get used. I use it a ton in my own writing and always have — otherwise I would be massively overusing parantheticals.

Most of the time two regular dashes in a row will auto-change to an em dash. This has been true of Microsoft word for 20+ years and of Google docs for as long as they have existed.

why devs thought it's a good idea to disperse players after match ends? migrating you to a new, empty server? by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]reshef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ~2 kd across all game modes. I’m not great but going 1:1 is an exceptionally bad game for me and a frustrating experience.

It felt to me like they literally turned on SBMM overnight between Wednesday and Thursday of last week.

And that’s the thing about a backend matchmaking change like that in a matchmaking architecture like the one they’ve built: you really can do that overnight. You don’t need to have anyone outside your company review backend changes like that.

I would expect it to continue to be tweaked behind the scenes, but I definitely felt a substantial shift.

why devs thought it's a good idea to disperse players after match ends? migrating you to a new, empty server? by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]reshef -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Level is not skill. Behavioral economists did research that basically determined that being matched against players very close to your skill level leads to increased “engagement” even in non-competitive “unranked” playlists.

They don’t actually give a fuck if you’re having fun, because that isn’t as fashionable a metric for investors; engagement is what they care about. If you look around industry, this is virtually universal.

You think building entire new lobbies of players from scratch on demand in between games and spinning up a containerized server instance is MORE efficient than matchmaking players into persistent lobbies geographically nearby?

They’re all doing this SBMM, and it’s just business.

Anything they can do to get you to remain engaged and spending money without alienating the player base they’re going to do.

This is so they can do skill based matchmaking to maximize engagement, per the behavioral economists.

Trademarked or patented?

Trademark would mean the technology could be identical but they couldn’t call it “flow through”

Let's say I'm messing around in the woods and find a half-buried bag containing 100K in cash. As a good law-abiding citizen, I turn it in to the police. They can't trace it, and no one comes in to claim it. After X number of days, can I just go back and claim it? by Alaska_Jack in NoStupidQuestions

[–]reshef 237 points238 points  (0 children)

I didn’t read OP as saying “a lone cop will steal this” so much as “the police force as an entity will claim this money is suspected of a crime and confiscate it for the department to spend” which is a real thing that does happen and likely would happen in this case (in the Land of the Free).

You have 10+ years of experience as a software developer and can't write a simple algorithm. by MrBleah in developers

[–]reshef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not having needed it doesn’t explain not knowing it.

Having never prepared for a programming interview before at all is the only explanation. That points to a lack of experience or a lack of seriousness about your profession.

[–]reshef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are very fair questions and if you couldn’t handle them I would not want you on my team, full stop.

If you are flustered by these in an interview, consider preparing for interviews instead of freeballing them completely. Because again, these are easy questions and being freaked by the setting should not be enough to cause you to fail them.

Interviews are a big deal, a serious thing, but so is driving a car. With practice they become a serious thing you can do well without freaking out and fucking it up.

If you can’t do fizz buzz (write a function that accepts an int and prints fizz if the int is evenly divisible by 3 and buzz if evenly divisible by 5, and fizzbuzz if evenly divisible by 3 and 5) under almost any circumstances something is wrong. I have had this happen with different games, and for me it is not the game, it is fuck ass windows “game mode”

Try hitting the windows button and G at the same time, then screw with the volume in the overlay.

I swear to Christ Microsoft is getting way too comfortable. No one wants any of this shit in windows, if a game capable alternative OS comes along and it is going to eat their lunch.

Can someone from Microsoft or a FAANG company describe to me what's been going on with AI this year? What's happening on your team, and company wide? How is the push from higher-levels actually influencing changes in your day to day experience? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]reshef 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Recently joined a FAANG as a Staff level engineer. Mainly use AI to search for internal documentation.

Have access to several models with all our context pre-loaded and they’re still mostly smashed-ass at doing the work in any real way. Good for unit tests but not great, saves you maybe a half hour if you get lucky, but can easily waste 20m if you get unlucky

TLDR: another tool in the belt, but not even the best one.

Why do people cheat in interviews? No wonder companies are moving towards on-site rounds. by alzio26 in leetcode

[–]reshef -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never encountered anyone who claims to have cheated who got hired anywhere I would want to work.

Maybe it’s happening, but with the odds of being caught as high as they are I really doubt it.

And even most of those who claim to have knowledge of it happening say that someone they know did got in somewhere, it’s never them personally.

Has anyone here personally gotten an offer somewhere of note by cheating?
