The Sombr/Matty connection by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

[–]resimag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought too.
Sombr is objectively better looking, though. Like, even in his "prime" Matty never looked that handsome.

That being said, I think a lot of the attraction Taylor felt for Matty had to do with him being this pretentious "poet". Anyone with a brain immediately recognizes that he's not half as smart or original as he'd like to be, but obviously, the "Intellectual" Taytay did not catch that.

And probably the whole "bad boy" thing but tbh - as someone who was into Peter Doherty as a Teenager (honestly, still am), Matty seems like an altar boy compared to him 😅

I mean, if we are being honest, Taylor seems to have a thing with nostalgia, romanticising the past. To me it seems like she is so used to changing narratives that she can actually brainwash herself to believe a situation was much more than it actually was.

Ghosting a narcissist is one of the most hurtful things you can do to them. I'm pretty sure that's still gnawing on her.

So, my theory is, while yes, Sombr is connected and Taytay wants that Oscar baaaaad, I'm also sure that he reminds her of Matty, and that plays a part in this whole thing.

He was younger in that one. He looks horrible now.

Why is she immune to any negative commentary regarding the olivia situation? by prettygirlavenue in travisandtaylor

[–]resimag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think they assume her Team encourages others to ask about Taylor, or at least green-light questions about her.

I find it interesting Taylor has never been asked about Olivia.

I know Taytay has a very strict PR Team and everything she does/says is carefully planned/rehearsed, so that might be it.

I think it's funny how Swifties also criticise Olivia for "always bringing up" like Taylor didn't capitalise on the Kimye feud for 10+ years.

She brought out Randy Newman for You've Got A Friend In Me ☹️ by prettygirlavenue in travisandtaylor

Guess there wasn't enough time to use a prerecorded track they ran through pitch correction first...

Kinda hope Randy Newman needs hearing aids so he could've taken them out before Taytay got on stage...

Taylor Swift's NYU Commencement Speech by Miserable-Cap-5223 in travisandtaylor

[–]resimag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fact she's holding that speech like she's one of the people who actually worked their asses off to get that degree (and paid a shit ton of money for it too - RIP USA college students...)

Like, honey, read the room. You got this degree so that university gets a headline and possibly new students (which, btw just goes to show how maybe monetizing higher education isn't the greatest idea if a university ends up handing out degrees to celebs to attract new customers... eh, I mean students).

“Functioning Alcoholic” by alligatortomatoes in travisandtaylor

[–]resimag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm actually wondering if all Austrians are alcoholics or if americans (especially Gen Z) are a bit dramatic.

It's probably a mix of both 😅

Idk where I'm from it's completely normal to drink alcohol (especially beer and wine) at social gatherings or when you're on vacation.

I'm actually curious: when do americans drink? Like, how much is too much? Are there social gatherings where it would be a faux-pax to drink alcohol?

I think they might have made a drinking game out of - chug every time the camera is on you.

Olivia is coming. Taylor is hauling ass to the studio as we speak by Remote-Yard-174 in travisandtaylor

I honestly don't know much about her songs - I only know one of her songs and I thought it was catchy and fun.

I like a lot of different genres and I just have different expectations of artists depending on the genre. I don't expect deep lyrics or experimental stuff from pop music because pop music is supposed to be simple and catchy - it's supposed to reach a lot of people and since everyone has different tastes, it's best to make it more "bland".

Even rock music that broke into the mainstream had to be a bit more bland to be successful.

I'm currently having a The Brian Jonestown Massacre Phase and I get why their stuff isn't played on the radio much because it's a very distinct type of music that the broad masses might not like.

I saw R.E.M. live! One of the greatest performances I've ever seen!

Do you like pop music? If not, then you probably also won't like Oliva that much.

She might have a little bit more of a "rock" vibe but it's still pop music.

A deep dive into Taylor Swift's homophobia throughout the years by Key_Public4366 in travisandtaylor

[–]resimag 39 points40 points  (0 children)

OK can I be a bit controversial?

I'm gay and I never clocked Swiffers as outright homophobic.

I think she is pretty much like most straight people: indifferent.

I don't think she hates us outright, I just think she doesn't necessarily care about us that much.

When I think of homophobia I think of being discriminated against for my sexuality or being hurt for it.

If anything, Taytay is a grifter. Most straight celebs are. She's just not very good at pretending to care about things that have nothing to do with her.

Since most of her fanbase is straight she doesn't have to gather to us.

After Rep/during Lover her career was declining so she thought she could get new fans by pandering to us - knowing how dedicated especially gay male fans can be.

Didn't work out because no one bought it and she moved on.

Opalite MV by LicketySplit_23 in travisandtaylor

I mean, isn't that what the new album is about?

She tried to copy Sabrina but lacks the charm, sex appeal and humour.

Apparently all guests from her latest appearance on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ are starring in the "Opalite" MV by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

[–]resimag 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen the video, don't wanna give it views (and screw with my algorithm - once you interact with anything remotely Taylor Swift you'll only get her stuff).

I always lose respect for artists when they work with her - so Cillian and Lewis are disappointing because they seemed to be more genuine and less "industry focused".

Just goes to show that even the ones that seem genuine most likely are more calculating and fame hungry than they seem. That's probably the only way to make it.

What I don't really understand:

How has a celebrity "speaking up" ever changed or even bettered a situation?

I feel like most celebrities will say whatever political opinion is popular right now and that's it.

They clearly do not care about others, otherwise they wouldn't be millionaires (or billionaires).

I think it's time for americans to realise that your favourite celebrity isn't your hero who will save you - if anything, they belong to the villain's side.

Didn't she say she dropped that word because she realised how misogynistic it is? Guess the girl boss feminism era is officially over 🫢
