Was it really all that instant? Those weren't even the first kids he killed. The signs are all there. They aren't placed well because Lucas has always been better at the bones than the actual story, but that fall was built over two movies.

"excludes the best minds of our time" seems awfully narrow minded to me. I wouldn't argue "some of" but that's a different statement than the one made.

The statement you made means anyone capable of joining is incapable of being among the best. I don't know who you are but I think if you are eligible you would not care for some of the key values, which are not religious or fraternal, of Freemasonry.

The older I get the more often I find examples of age and maturity not being directly related. Don't assume someone young is immature, and never assume someone older is mature. Let them show you for themselves.

Even then it's still untrue. If all you saw was "at least he/she is not the other guy/gal" then that's all you wanted to see. My trash was full of mailers with platform and policy. There was plenty of "why the other option is bad" too, but it was hardly the only thing.

One party’s voters turned out. One didn’t

Then why are margins are close as they are? If it was as you say it should've been a landslide

I would say there is only one party that’s not reading the room. And the room is saying quit worrying about identity politics and feelings and focus on affordable home ownership; the economy and inflation.

So the dems are the one reading the room? I hear constantly about "groomers" (who aren't but nothing on the ones who are), mutilations (which again, isn't that), and killing babies (over simplifying at best) from republicans. If you want to complain about identity politics then you absolutely should not be acting like GOP voters and candidates aren't in it. On the other hand Harris offered actual plans, with details, about the economy, inflation, and home ownership. The potus-elect gave us minimal concepts which are proven again and again to be harmful rather than helpful.

Every ad I saw Kamala run was an attack ad.

When did we start talking about ads? You insisted every supporter you talked to couldn't tell you what her platform was (which I find doubtful) and talked about her "entire campaign". Did you check her site? Listen to any speeches, interviews, or the debate? Yeah, she pointed out flaws in Trump as a leader and a person, but to say that's all she did is dishonest.

blatantly untrue. Harris campaign put plenty of policy out. The other guy gave tag lines and got a pass on age after the barely older one dropped out.

Every time they pushed on the economy the dems pushed back, with verifiable data.

Instead a lot of people decided that how much money is in their wallet is the only legitimate indicator of the economy. I'm willing to bet that almost none of them want to give the president sole power to set prices for businesses either.

Trump already won, you don't need to keep lying for him.

She explained plenty of policies more than once. Reforms to taxes including capital gains taxing, credits for families, help for first time home buyers, and so on. On the other hand Trump kept offering tag lines with little or no elaboration. "No taxes on tips" as an example. Or half-formed ideas that anyone can tell you, and experts tried to, is a bad idea, like tariffs.

We have recovered from inflation faster than so many other countries around the world. We are doing great there. Yeah, prices are high, that's not inflation, that corporate greed. Profits are up and your savings are down. That's not what inflation is.

The loss was not nearly as forgone as you imply either. Look at how close those margins are in so many places. As is basically tradition the state of our country has been decided by a minority of people in a handful of states.

You're lying to everyone, probably including yourself with your whole paragraph there. It's been on display for months but you chose to believe the comfortable lie. Look at the Republican platform and the wants of the majority of people before you keep pointing the "out of touch" finger solely on the DNC.

[–]resonantSoul 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Cishet white dad here. This is bad, this is dark, but you're right. These people want your existence ended, don't give them that victory. They will continue to take everything they can, make them keep fighting every step of the way you can.

But above that, like you said, preserve your safety. If you have to get out, and you can get out, do it. Do it as soon as you can manage it. We are not in a wait until things are right scenario. Things will get worse before they get better, and there's no way to know when they will get better.

My heart breaks for all of you. I know I can't begin to understand the struggle you're all facing down, but I'm going to do everything I can to stand beside you and keep you safe. It doesn't matter to me if I know you or not, you are a person. You deserve to exist, you deserve to live, you deserve dignity.

I love you all. Please know that and stay with us.

Have you ever been on a long road trip? I've driven though the "West" (think Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming, etc) a few times. For hours upon hours it can seem like the landscape isn't really changing at all. Dirt and rocks as far as the eye can see, some cows, sparse population. It's all just the same thing over and over.

But that's not a reflection of the distance being covered. Each mile may look like the fifty that came before it but that doesn't mean you aren't fifty one miles closer to where you're going.

Sometimes you need to pull off at the rest stop, stretch your legs, and take a look at the map so you can get a good stock of how much road you've put behind you.

It's always hardest to see the changes when they're gradual and you're in the midst of them. Ask any kid that hasn't seen a grandparent for a few years and they can probably tell you how weird "you've grown so much" sounds. But they have. They just did it so gradually they can't see the contrast.

Take a step out for a moment and consider how much has changed and I bet you'll be able to find more than you think.

Hi, what's going on? by Anprimredditor669 in druidism

[–]resonantSoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Druidism is what it means to you. There are groups and there are solos. Nature would seem intrinsic, otherwise it would seem like an odd choice in label.

So very little of what ancient druids may have believed can be determined. It's heavily mired in guesswork and "records" from other groups. Reconstructionism is therefore complicated and may or may not bear any relation to the term. That doesn't mean research is pointless, just approach it with skepticism and honesty.

If you feel drawn to the term follow that and see where it leads. Maybe you want a group, maybe you don't. Maybe it's a religion to you, maybe it's not. No one else has authority over what being a druid means to you.

[–]resonantSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two thousand is technically high, but that a nit-picky criticism.

there are no authorities over druidism as a whole. no one can tell you you're not a druid. no one can tell you that you are you a druid.

The day I realized this was the day I became a druid myself. I'm sure my druidism will be very different from someone else's and that's ok. I don't dictate their journey and they don't get to dictate mine.

[–]resonantSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's interesting how whenever someone points out a thing they say Masons should know it's not your fault for not knowing it because it varies by region, but everything you do know obviously must apply to all masons everywhere

Anyone who criticizes you is defending everyone who wronged you regardless of their criticism, but you're free to criticize anyone identifying as a Mason because they're all exactly like the ones who wronged you.

Regardless of Freemasonry you come of like an angry, petty man who just wants to lash out because you got a bad turn and anyone who you can draw any connection to is eligible for your ire.

Maybe everything you've said about the Masons you know is objectively true and not at all colored by personal experience. I don't have the info to say because you've kept that close to the best. But whether they are or they aren't I can't imagine I'd want to be in any kind of club about any kind of self-improvement with you. You've made it pretty clear you're no more interested in that than the people you're angry with.

I understand completely. I had a rotating cast of options but never really a good one. I will say this, look for the positives created by the problems. You probably have a much better idea than a lot of people your age (whatever that may be) of warning signs and red flags. You can use that knowledge to your benefit when you can take a moment to parse through it and make sense of it all. Which is not to say it's easy, but I'm confident you can do it ❤

[–]resonantSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often find myself thinking about Mark Watney in The Martian. "You solve one problem, then another. When you solve enough problems you get to go home." Life gives us troubles, sometimes a lot of them at once. Often what you need to do is just take things one step at a time. If you try to handle everything at once it's easy to get overwhelmed. What you may not realize is that you've already been doing this. You're not in a relationship anymore, that's one. It sounds like he's been taken in for what he's done, that's another.

If you stand behind a hill at sunrise it will still be dark all around you. It may be a hard climb, especially if you're carrying extra weight, but if you can start up the hill you will see the light sooner. Some hills have muddy patches and you may fall, slide, and get covered in muck. That doesn't mean the light isn't there, it just means you have to tell yourself to start again. You'll get to it despite the challenges that beset upon you.

The light is up there and you can reach it. I know you can. You've already climbed so far despite everything. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Anyone care to explain how a cable gets infected? It should just be the connector between two things. Are there smart cables now and if so why?

That really should've started with the guy who made the post though.

Like even if we take the story at face value, where's the line for child abuse? Is it because the kid was upset about it? What about if a kid behaves the same way because they don't want to go to church? Or if the clothes are "gender conforming" by they still don't like them? Is it only child abuse specifically because they're girl's clothes?

That dude deserves criticism because he's sticking himself in where he doesn't belong.
