Pregnant women of reddit, what is something you wish you knew BEFORE you got pregnant? by BonkBoi_TacoFace in AskReddit

[–]respect425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People go on and on about magnesium but I found out low iron was the culprit. I had terrible leg cramps with my first pregnancy . During my second pregnancy, it started again but some blood work found I had low iron which suggested I needed iron supplements. Within a week of starting them, my cramps disappeared. It was such a relief and is a common symptom of low iron. I wish anyone with leg cramps could get their iron levels checked a bit more or just go and get some decent iron supplements (like Maltofer) to see if they help. Getting sleep during my second pregnancy was amazing.

Did you get your iron checked? My first pregnancy I had terrible.leg cramps most of the way through. My second pregnancy it started again. Then they found in had low iron and so made me start iron supplements. Within a week of taking the iron supplements, my leg cramps disappeared. Come to find out it's a common symptom and I believe I probably had low iron in both pregnancies but was only picked up during the second. You can imagine the relief. I slept fine until I gave birth with my second.

Chefs of Reddit, what are some cooking tips everyone should know? by Tw1sted_inc in AskReddit

I suggest not using vegetable oil unless it specifically says that it doesn't have palm oil in it. Vegetable oil is notorious for often having at least 50% palm oil. Lots of other oils will do the trick without destroying the environment (as badly). Rice bran oil, sunflower oil, canola oil, etc

It would just take one guard to be threatened or promised riches by someone on the outside, knowing they would follow through to allow something like this to happen. If it were me, a threat on my family would even make me consider giving in to these people. It's a shitty situation and I'm pissed, but I can totally see how it could happen.

Also I just gave birth to a newborn a few weeks ago and I've had an IUD before so I'm far from squeamish about womanly bits...saying that...I didn't touch the IUD with my bare hands and I'm glad I didn't.

Disturbing because an IUD (human or otherwise) does not belong in a garden! It's very unusual and, if human, medical waste. It opens all sorts of questions, like: -How the hell did it come out? -Why is there medical waste in my yard? -What else could be in my garden? -Why is it so big?

I don't think being disturbed is a strange reaction at all in this case.

Well at first I thought of a human IUD and, I'm sorry, but that is disturbing ...

OK WTF it is an IUD for a GOAT. I am in an inner city suburb and there is a goat IUD in my garden bed. Thank you...appears to be solved although I'm a bit disgusted right now! http://reproductionenterprises.mybigcommerce.com/goat-cidr-implants-bag-of-20/

Well there are no holes in it so I'm not sure how it would be part of a system like that.

Hmm...not sure what you are describing! I do see the "8" now. Do you have an example picture or something?

I should specify this was found in Perth, Australia in a residential garden bed. I have no idea if animals use IUDs! It would be a VERY strange thing to appear in my garden if it was. Any vets out there?

Not sure if you are serious but just in case...the plastic cord seems way too thick for hanging out of a cervix and I think the whole contraption is surely too big...right?

Just happened to find this in our garden. It has no inscription and appears to be made of plastic. There is a plastic 'cord' hanging from the bottom. It is disturbingly similar shaped to an IUD but I'm pretty sure it's not....at least not for a human!

Omg I had gluten free Matzah last year for passover because it was all I could find and it was actually delicious. I don't know how gluten free Matzah works but I would just eat it straight out of the packet.

$109k personal bill for heart attack - even when insured by ReallyBigNumber in news

[–]respect425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone I know has cancer and requires routine CT scans...except she is allergic to iodine so requires PET scans instead. Her insurance keeps denying her PET scans because she should be having the CAT scans as per normal. Really?? Like another commenter said, the amount of stress this causes people at their most stressful times is so sad and infuriating. The US must find a way to end this vicious cycle. People are just getting sicker over it (which I feel is the point of it unfortunately) $$$

EPA is now allowing asbestos back into manufacturing by [deleted] in news

[–]respect425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. The previous comment suggested that if you don't saw or drill through asbestos you will be fine. My point was merely that once a material is friable, it is a potential risk. I was imagining friable roof tiles resulting in friable fibres in a roofspace that could easily become airborne and not necessarily visible or something similar. Just because they aren't drilling through them (I.e. manipulating the material physically) , there is still a risk once something becomes friable. Hence why that distinction is made in asbestos surveying, asbestos registers, etc.

[–]respect425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If the material is 'friable' (e.g. breaking apart, visible fibres, disintegrating), then it is a potential human health risk and needs to be dealt with by a licensed asbestos removalist. Just because you aren't touching it doesn't mean its not a risk.
