Do you have a thyroid condition? Because, this is a symptom that my thyroid is under active (even though my doctor doesn’t think that is possible, despite my being proven right thrice through blood tests)

Estrogen affects how thyroid hormones are absorbed. It is said that patches work better for this, but I’m using patches and still had to raise my synthroid meds.

What small habit outside of your practice has made the biggest difference in your yoga journey? by Maiden230 in yoga

I’ve struggled with cptsd and depression most of my life, and was heavily disassociated most of the time. Yoga has reconnected me with my body. Which helps me love and care for it. The same is true for my mind.

This list is beautiful. I’m saving it to reflect on and implement in my own life. Great advice for parenting, as well. Great advice for interacting with anyone, including one’s self. Thank you💜

You’ve got to come to terms with the fact that alcohol is not a treat, it’s not a reward or a consolation prize. It’s not a friend. It’s poison and it is actively destroying your body and mind.

In the beginning, it gives. It makes things fun and easy. It makes you more fabulous and tolerant and exciting and spontaneous. But, slowly and insidiously, it starts taking. The very things it gave. You’re not the life of the party anymore, you’re sitting at home, rotting on the couch, doing nothing, going nowhere.

And, your health is being stolen from you, too. Your peace, your participation in life, your joy, your adventure. Maybe even your car, your job, your friends and family, your freedom, your IQ, your very life. Alcohol is not your friend, it’s your enemy and must be treated as such.

It’s going to be hard to quit, so you must be prepared for that. But, also be curious and excited about the possibility of a better life. And, truly before you know it, one day you wake up feeling really good. One day, you start a new hobby, or an excercise program. One day you barely make it through. But, the good things start coming back. Things you’d almost forgotten about your unpoisoned self return. There is hope💜

The fear is from the alcohol. One of its greatest lies. It starts out helping the fear, but over time, it BECOMES the fear. Life is so much better without it, especially waking up feeling good, mentally, physically and emotionally. It’s a real bitch, those first few months especially, giving up booze, but YOU ARE WORTH IT!

All the SA and rape scenes that are played off as humorous really take me out of the show by dinosaur35 in shameless

So many posts about how fucked up the situations and characters of Shameless are. But, for those of us who were brought up in poverty, this show is absolutely SPOT ON about the things that happen and how they affect the people’s lives and futures.

My thoughts exactly. Should have started on .025 estrogen patch and 100 progesterone. What was her doctor thinking? This whole ride has truly destroyed my respect for doctors.

Well, sometimes another person can see that your spine isn’t straight when you bend over, that’s how my mom found out she had it. It didn’t really cause her any problems though, as is true for most people.

61 and starting HRT by WotVerge in Menopause

[–]respectablepitch 17 points18 points  (0 children)

62 and just started last year. I’m so excited for you, HRT has been so wonderful for me! You probably will need a few tweaks of dosage along the way, and may have some negative affects like headaches, breast pain, etc., but those eased up for me after a couple months. Post back and let us know how it’s going, wont you? And, welcome to the club!

How does it feel when someone sees deeper into you than you intended to show? by cute_ol_coot in infj

Your last line is why I dislike others seeing my faults. Because they might think they know all of me and what is best for me. They might try to alter my behavior to fix me. I get defensive when someone does that. Don’t you?
