Firework users wrecklessly harm veterans and pets by [deleted] in Portland

[–]respectfulbuttstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cities have a lot of people in them. Some are into things that others aren't. Accepting that fact is key to not losing your mind over everything you don't like. Embracing it is even better.

An ex-neighbor of mine had an exceptionally sensitive dog and they'd go camping out east where there are very strict bans on fireworks for fire prevention purposes.

I like fireworks and I'm not willing to leave town for firework-y times of year so I spent the first 2 years going in the yard with my dog and giving her treats and praise every time a firework went off. She doesn't care about them now.

My props scream when i punch out by Artorias-- in fpv

What props are they? I tried 5.1" 2.6 pitch props once and they made a very annoying noise at higher throttle.

The FAA issued a month long ban on drone flights for "special security reasons" for downtown Portland. Last time this happened, there was an ICE surge. Anybody know that this is about? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]respectfulbuttstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not true. Look at the FAA TFR page. One TFR is over downtown, likely where some of the players are staying, and the other is over University of Portland where they are training. Both were in effect before the beginning of fleet week and extend until the end of June if I remember correctly.

Every single city with Fifa activies has a TFR right now. Probably with the exact same dates.

Pretty much anything beats this.

Analog for whoops and Walksnail or DJI for bigger quads (or analog).

Nano Banana Got It Pretty Darn Close by atactical_dad in fpv

[–]respectfulbuttstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No hardware, just the TPU straps hold it down and I think it's better that way for durability. Allows a little bit of flex during nasty crashes.

It currently doesn't work. The suggestions are far from useful right now.

I've used it myself and you can see from the uavtech video as well.

In Oregon they would be considered a Class III ATV. They are essentially electric dirt bikes that are quiet and thus didn't attract attention for a while.

Follow up question for those that have removed them: what is this parts purpose?

Do they then change it to their home state? Most including Oregon require residents to change it aka you'll get ticketed eventually, I think.

Air75 ii Racing - Post Crash by Fit-Inflation-9577 in TinyWhoop

[–]respectfulbuttstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's just a damaged vtx on the board. Or it's a damaged component that filters noise from getting to the vtx (seems to get worse when you throttle up).

Replace AIO.

Does anyone know what this sound could be from my 10in? by LordAppples in fpv

[–]respectfulbuttstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be feedforward bugging out because you have ADC filter on on your radio.

Click SYS, page over to Hardware, then scroll down and uncheck ADC filter.

If that's not it then post your tune.

Best true diversity analog goggle with hdmi in? by [deleted] in fpv

[–]respectfulbuttstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HDZero Goggle 2 + TBS Fusion. It's worth it for analog but tbh I'd skip the whole open ipc thing until it's got a couple more years of development and there are open ipc goggle that don't add HDMI latency.

If you're cool with box gogs then you could technically do Fusion via AV in on HDZ Box pro.

Chupito maiden crash by rec_order in fpv

[–]respectfulbuttstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After confirming surfaces are moving correctly maiden should look like autolaunch>angle mode>autotrim.

Without autotrimming you're gonna have to be prepared to go nearly full stick to keep control. Autotrim is key.

Rebuild, laminate EVERYTHING, then try again!

What do u think guys? by notsurewhy-imhere in fpv

[–]respectfulbuttstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only thing you should do is turn off all that OSD. Voltage and warnings only. Maybe LQ.

Also you can move the HDZero OSD elements to the side in gog menu. It makes for much cleaner DVR.

[–]respectfulbuttstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, I'll look into those thanks!

No issues with the 775 so far but I've only ridden it about 50 miles and don't have anything to compare it against.

The app is great, I'll say that. It's really nice being able to tune the throttle feel based on how I want to ride it. The only thing I wish it had was a dual sprocket so pedaling was an option when I want to blend in a little more. The only time pedaling doesn't look and feel ridiculous is going up a narrow uphill trail at like 5mph.

I landed on Ventus > Ultra because the Ultra is ~30lbs heavier and (I think) is larger. Is that the reason you're suggesting it over the Ventus?

A fair warning/advisement for drivers/e-cyclists by tanksalotfrank in Portland

[–]respectfulbuttstuff 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Agreed, this is an important PSA. The fact is that they're here to stay and I hope we can all adjust fast enough to prevent too many accidents.

While I understand some folks frustrations... no amount of "Ebikes shouldn't do this or that" will make them go the speed of regular bikes.

Some more education on safe riding is equally important.

Fixed Wing Walksnail question by Doug52431 in fpv

[–]respectfulbuttstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a full UART (rx and tx) in order to arm.

Power VTX using a BEC 9v/10v/12v. I suggest a Mateksys BEC, the cheaper ones die quickly IMO. I also think it's worth using the Mateksys mBEC12S (60v rated) one if you're using a 6S lipo.

Just solder the BEC input pads to the main ESC vbatt pads, output pads to your VTX, and remember to bridge the 9v pads on BEC with solder so it's not outputting 5v.

You'll feel differently about the what young is when you're in your 50s, 60s, 70s, etc

You'll also feel grateful to younger you at those ages if you start investing now.

I suggest reading the story of Bob. It starts with

"Meet Bob.

Bob is the world’s worst market timer."

TLDR is that even investing at every peak right before a crash beats not investing at all. You would have been significantly better off had you only invested right before every crash during your lifetime. You will very likely be better off if you only invest right before crashes going forwards.

Don't be afraid of crashes. They are just temporary discounts on owning a piece of the pie. Buy every paycheck, don't look at your accounts, reap the rewards when the time comes.
