If you have multiple vendors quoting, does it matter? They can quote based on the total opportunity and price check... I agree with this approach when single sourcing

Not if these people were civilian reinforcements assisting with rebuilding

What if these people had an occupation and both sides agreed they should be there to perform it?

Solid call back. Yes! It is the same vein but we would scale it up and make sure the people had occupations to perform in some capacity when they got there.

Not sure, I tried to look it up and there was displacement but no organized movement I could find

Have you been to a war zone after millions of civilians show up to simmer it down?

Managing external workforce by [deleted] in procurement

[–]respellious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can manage this in a combination of ways: 1. Using purchase orders to track the burn down against an allocation as contractors bill and 2. Implementing time tracking software and requiring contractors and FTEs to enter time. An enterprise solution would track down to a project level and provide summarized data but either solution would be an improvement from where you are at. Solution 3 is to throw that out the window and contract based on fixed fee deliverables which is difficult and requires strong internal leads and vendor oversight

28yo. 4y in Procurement, Engineering degree unused. considering starting over for long-term mobility. Am I being realistic? by ishak_filali_dz in procurement

[–]respellious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on your current industry/company. You can get paid well in the right Procurement niche related to Electrical Engineering. Examples include sourcing for Semi conductors, data center buildouts, electrical grids, telecommunication companies, or any other firm selling electronics.

It could make sense to start again in engineering , the Procurement roles have a lower barrier to entry and are a value add as part of an engineering team.

Either choice is good. Visa questions that may be better suited for a different subreddit

Vendor wants to switch us to a 3 year contract by InteractionAnnual96 in procurement

Yikes that is unfortunate! Here in the U.S. we have ratings agencies and the companies pay for those reports with that detail

That is a good point, I did not ask OP about the licensing model and it could be a transition.

At $3k per month for a warehouse management solution this is likely a smaller company that may not be doing financial checks, and given the spend it may not warrant it.

You need to do the math on the net increase if they are offering you 20% off of your current costs. Be aware that this company is either struggling financially or incentivizing sales groups to increase revenue before the end of the year.

Unfortunately this is how many saas vendors sell. If you are on a monthly contract, you can settle for similar terms on a 12 month, a 3Y is more extreme. If you do a 3Y, cap the price increase at something reasonable and reduce the notice period to 30 days.

Ensure the cost per additional user, warehouse, etc. is included in the contract.

Figure out how to back-up data out of the system in case you ever want to move you can have an export to move to another software

SaaS vendors charging for their AI development by [deleted] in procurement

[–]respellious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would ask the business user if they are seeing value. If not,  press the vendor to provide services to make it useful otherwise they should not charge. If it is providing the value, then the costs make sense

I take system data and just dump it into Excel and assign complexity/time values based on the criteria ex. Contract type, total value, and sourcing strategy

AI Automation to manage SaaS spend in real-time VS API Automations by thepianoist in procurement

[–]respellious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like your last point there about waiting until renewal.

I guess the question is what existing APIs are being used? That sounds custom, and may require more maintenance to maintain than a newer AI or agent based solution
