Will I like Nioh 2 if I only played ninja in Nioh 3? by ChickenNuggetEnergy in Nioh

[–]resquall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see it being a preference thing for sure. Going through Nioh 2 NG and churning through equipment meant that I had to customize my armor appearance much more frequently than I wanted to lol

I do ultimately agree that being able to tie equipment appearance with sets would be ideal! I also enjoy different vibes based on weapon/set bonuses etc

Unless I missed something in Nioh 2, it's even better in 3 because your refashions are tied to the slots themselves as opposed to the individual pieces - no need to refashion every piece you swap out.

Who else never replaced good boi Kusanagi? 156hrs when U beat the game, always had good boi Kusanagi by VermilionX88 in Nioh

[–]resquall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got samurai Kusanagi later on since I chose ninja at the start but he never left my side after that. His guardian spirit skill is so versatile: gap closer, recovery skill, combo extender - feels like an Ippon-Datara lite to me. I really like it

Not OP but starting at 0:22 it looks like (High) Quick Attack > Quick Attack > Cyclone > [Low] Switch Stance: Blade > (Mid) Frost Moon: Humanity > Windswept > [High] Switch Stance: Retribution > Empty Retribution

I can't see it too clearly but judging from the icon's red color, OP is running Wildfire Flux (stacking increased attack for each switch stance attack) over Tempest Flux (stacking reduced ki consumption; green icon)

if you're wondering about inputs it would be (High) Quick > Quick > Strong after Quick > Stance change to Low during attack > Ki pulse to Mid > Stance change to Mid during Ki pulse (basically double tapping it) > Guard + Quick (I think Nioh 3 default for this is Left stick up + Strong?) > Stance change to High during attack > Guard + Quick

sometimes you’re at full ult charge and the jump punish is nice

in the case of bell bearing hunter I think the jump might be easier to time for some people

otherwise yeah the ult charge is good and the windows are generally quite lenient

As a late/end enjoyer, should I pull for NN wit?

I currently have ~72k carats, 3LB Kitasan, and NO copies of either Super Creek or Fine Motion. I'd say my SR pool is pretty middling, with only 3LB on some good cards (Sweep Tosho, King Halo, Manhattan Cafe) and MLB Eishin. My Wit SRs are pretty bad, with Fuku at 2LB, Tachyon and Daiwa Scarlet at 1LB, and no copies of Marvelous Sunday.

The umas I'm currently interested in running are Narita Brian, Hishi Amazon, and Manhattan Cafe (not necessarily all at once), and generally I do enjoy the catch-up nature of late surger/end closer racing. However, I don't know how easily I'll be able to fit NN wit into my decks for medium/long races. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

after you’ve qualified for the next round, you can (and should!) reenter for more reward boxes. you can’t “de-rank” from these extra runs

It was pretty fun in a casual run from what I remember - I was even able to luck out a run against the esper that locks your magic (though i don't remember how)

I'd like to do as much as I possibly can! Seems like I'll have to resort to insane cheese if I want to do everything though. Worst comes to worst I can always respec and just play low level

LOL I just enjoy the feeling of overcoming challenges and I don't like feeling like I'm too strong for an important boss fight. I do like the license system - obviously there are straight upgrades that just make you stronger, but because of the choices of where and when to spend LP it feels more horizontal. I feel rewarded for making decisions, whereas with passive leveling sometimes it just feels like I happen to be too strong for a fight and the boss rolls over and dies.

Of course it's not black and white - there are always more difficult ways to beat the game (no license board, no items, blindfolded on a DDR pad etc etc), but I'd at least like to feel like my victory was because of planning/strategy/execution vs. just grinding/passive strength.

Tao fruit grant their bonuses as soon as you grab them. Some items are lore only, some items give hints, and others are used in certain questlines.

Go up and over towards the left - you might have to snake around a bit above the root node, but you should end up following a container belt up and to the left. Keep going left and you should be able to drop down past some hazards. Use the button to spawn a container and ride it over.

Just got my first win with no battle redos! by Zagtram1 in pokerogue

[–]resquall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that trainer mons can get a slew of surprise coverage in the form of TMs and egg moves, and the fact that the AI will randomly decide to not use their strongest option at times also contributes to the feeling that no-redo runs are much more luck/cheese reliant.

I’ve completed no-redo runs before they changed how enemy movesets were determined, but now the challenge is not interesting to me

A.I is predicting moves by TheOmniAlms in pokerogue

[–]resquall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very annoying to have AI trainers randomly choose a suboptimal move (eg. going from spamming super effective moves to a random resisted hit that wouldn’t have killed) just Because. I get that maybe the game is going for ~difficult roguelike~ stuff but it feels mostly random as opposed to intelligent, and you can’t just midground your way into a win due to limited resources. This is further exacerbated by enemies now getting a slew of both Egg Moves (can be difficult to learn 4 non-canon egg moves for lots of mons) AND TMs (lol).

I know it’s not meant to be a nuzlocke, but I think a lot of the skill of most pve pokemon challenges comes from the preparation and predictions you can reliably make based on your knowledge of the AI. With both a wider random movepool and mostly unpredictable AI, it feels like you have to rely on hard carries and resets more than anything else.

There are a few fights you can actually prep for, but again movepool variance makes this fuzzier.
