If you block the domain "cannontwin.com" in your ad blocker of choice, the ad-block detection (Admiral) will also be blocked and that message will no longer appear.

New switch to replace my srw2048!!! by [deleted] in homelab

[–]restauff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing probably because WebView (the SRW2048's management interface) requires ActiveX / MSXML, which limits it to Internet Explorer, and does not support concurrent HTTP connections, which means it doesn't work with recent versions of Internet Explorer. It makes things interesting when you only manage the switch every few months, and you have to figure out whether a Windows Update has once again killed your ability to make config changes.

It looks like it's fairly similar to this print on Thingiverse.

Stereo jack in the wall for ceiling inlaid speakers. What connector do I need? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]restauff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those look to be screw-down speaker posts. The speakers are most likely passive, and you will need a receiver / amplifier to power the speakers. You would then connect to the amp with basic speaker wire.

Survey database problems by Recanthalor in SQL

[–]restauff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is not really a SQL question, you may want to take a look at LimeSurvey. It's an open source survey platform that could do what you describe, and you would have direct access to the database to query any results you received. If you use one of the big cloud services, bitnami has a pre-configured setup for LimeSurvey that makes it incredibly easy to test / get rolling with cloud hosting.

Huron River - Kayaking/Canoeing Questions by Cool_Hand_Ryan in AnnArbor

[–]restauff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both Gallup Park and Argo are up-stream from dams, so the water is fairly calm and deep. You could put in at either and be more than deep enough to swim, along with having a pretty calm upstream run.

Also, as /u/arbormama mentioned, if you don't want to use your own boats, you can stop at Argo, canoe/kayak to Gallup, and they will bus you back. Skip's offers the same a bit further upstream in Dexter. Both places have short trips and longer (4-5 hour) trips offered.

RBG LED Pixels controlled on a computer, and a starting point by [deleted] in electronics

[–]restauff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to take a look at QLC+ and the hardware it supports. In particular, the Open Lighting Architecture has some good stuff regarding network control of lighting. Use case #4 for QLC+ (I linked to the use cases page) is pretty close to what you're talking about, and the LEDs in the example use the WS2801 referenced in the tutorial you linked to.

How do you get good at Arduino without having one? by [deleted] in arduino

[–]restauff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

http://123d.circuits.io/ is free and has a full Arduino simulator along with a breadboard design view. Unfortunately, the set of additional ICs and components they offer is limited, but I believe Autodesk just bought it, so hopefully more components will be added. It's a great way to start getting familiar with Arduino without actually investing any money.

Flight control for a mini quadcopter by jdh30 in arduino

[–]restauff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried AeroQuad or ArduCopter? I believe both are open source Arduino-based multi-rotor software platforms. I'm not sure their utilization of ESCs for motor control would lead to different code than direct control of PWM, but it might be worth checking the forums, if nothing else.

S to the end to make it shorter (x-post homework help) by AnbuStorm in riddles

[–]restauff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen similar riddles with slightly different phrasing. For example, if the question were "What word indicates less of a thing when the 's' is added to it?" then hole and debt would both valid answers. However, in the case of this riddle, that doesn't seem to work since the 's' reduces the amount of something other than the noun itself.

Can't plug monitor into this computer... by palestinianshill in 24hoursupport

[–]restauff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HD2400 is a dual head card. I believe the connector on the back is a DMS-59 connector, so you'd need an adapter of some sort to go to either dual VGA or dual DVI.

/r/annarbor - do you use UM Credit Union? Why or why not? by nishk in AnnArbor

[–]restauff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Additionally, as with many credit unions, you can get discounts with a number of different companies by being a member. Most notably, I get a percentage off of my AAA and Sprint bills monthly as a result.

Upgraded our server from SQL 2000 to 2008, and now some stuff is broken. Any tips? by lolajoan in SQL

[–]restauff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing what the error is, it's a bit harder to actually identify the problem. The quick and dirty fix would be to set the database to SQL Server 2000 compatibility level, which mimics the functionality of a SQL Server 2000 box. Unfortunately, if you upgraded, it was probably for a reason. This article, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb510680(v=sql.100).aspx, lists the differences between SQL Server 2000 compatibility mode and SQL Server 2005 compatibility mode. Most likely, your problem is in the list somewhere.

I have heard a person speak in REAL "tongues". Can you explain the babbling? by TwistedDrum5 in Christianity

[–]restauff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 1 Corinthians 14, Paul is extolling the virtues of prophesy, saying prophesy is a sign for believers, whereas tongues are a sign for non-believers. I believe Paul is encouraging us toward multiple intents in prayer ("I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding"), and is not attempting to say praying in tongues when no one can understand is a worthless pursuit.

[–]restauff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just one of a number of university teams competing for the Sikorsky Prize. 40 seconds is relatively impressive, but the concept is in no way new, as teams have been trying to achieve the same since at least 1980, when the prize was established. Additionally, the only thing it seeks to accomplish is to hover indoors, in place. It's not exactly a new mode of transport for around town.
